Default St. Legers

Ha! Didn't I say he was the one to watch?

"Great ride from Jimmy Fortune on Monitor Closely in the Great Voltigeur, nursing an Oasis Dream on a comfortable lead to last 12f. Favored Harbinger, the Gordon S winner, ran last. I had my eye on Mastery, the Italian Derby winner, who had been third in the 2-mile Queen's Vase at Ascot; he was the only one to keep on and ran second, could be a good one for the St. Leger."

A sad end to Yeats' season. I fear he is not the horse he was away from Ascot. I was rather disappointed by Schiaparelli's run; he set out to make it a test of stamina and seemed to have it in hand before running out of gas in the final furlong.
