Roddick's playing very well too. If he can get past Monfils, he's in business. That was a giant, giant upset today.

That fkn lurch isn't gunna win the French. Actually, someone should beat Federer, but they might lay down for him.

Nadal did not play well.
But he got hammered.

That kid took all Nadal's shots early at the
top of the bounce and hit down on them.
He was crushing the ball, looked like ping pong
if you get the ball too high.

Roddick is the most overrated player in any sport.

I knew the second Rafa lost, the American writers would be all over the "Roddick can win this thing" story. Ha. As if Nadal was the only reason he hasnt won a Grand Slam since 2003. Could it be hes just not that good?

If he wasnt an American, would anyone even talk about him?

He's got good stuff. To me he's like a strikeout pitcher who can't get any other outs. Just relies too much on his serve and is too impatient.

Federer/Monfils is going to be a treat. Jankovic/Cirstea was a real good one today.

I dont know Joey. I havent seen good stuff from him in a real long time, save for that good match he played against Fed in last year's US Open. Personally I cant stand the guy so I may be a little biased, but Americas men's tennis is really in the toilet if he's our #1 player.

I know we were spoiled in the mid 90's having Andre and Pete, as well as Courier, Chang, Krickstein and Wheaton, but still?

I keep rooting for James Blake to break through in a major but its not happened.

Fed and Monfils will be dynamite!

James Blake is an utter failure. At least Roddick can make some noise at a major. Blake is routinely put in an early primetime match only to fall on his face.

Blake roots for his opponent. He might as well be pregnant with slippers on out there.

I like him but I am sick of all the attention he gets at the US Open, specifically in those prime time night matches.

I see that once again, Andy Roddick cant lose a match without complaining and being condescending to the linesperson. What a complete baby and poor sport he is. Makes me sick how guys like Brad Gilbert and Patrick Mcenroe suck up to him and talk as if hes this great player or something. Not only cant he beat any of the top players, he has a very disenchanting way to go about his losing. Hes awful for the sport.

Courier was a fabulous player Pgard. He had far more success against Andre and Pete than Roddick is having against Roger and Rafa. He obviously wasnt as good as them but he was far closer in talent and accomplishments to his rivals than Roddick is. Not to mention Courier also had to contend with guys like Edberg, Becker and Rafter.

Ok keep Courier at a level below.
He just had a complete collapse.
fell off the face of the earth it seems.

To be "a level below" Andre and Pete is quite an accomplishment. Ask Andre and Pete if they enjoyed playing Jim Courier and they will grimace. Ask the same question to Rafa and Roger about Roddick and they will grin and laugh.

Jim Courier was an overachiever from the start. He wasnt blessed with the talent of his 2 American rivals but he sure did a lot with what he had.

The match that got me really into tennis was when Courier beat Agassi in the finals of the French for his first Grand Slam. That was some match.

Waiting to watch Monfils and Federer. Should be great tennis and Federer better not lose the first two sets to this guy!
