![]() One of the biggest days in racing gets started in Dubai with the Dubai World Cup program. Once again, a fantastic card has been assembled with top horses from all four corners of the world. I will thread lightly at the windows, but will be extremely interested in seeing the action. My focus will be on Desert Party, UAE Derby and Hyperbaric, Dubai Duty Free.
The Gulfstream Park meet comes to a crescendo with Florida Derby day. A nice field will make up the Florida Derby which includes two potential superstars (Dunkirk and Quality Road). Dunkirk will try and duplicate what his sire (Unbridled's Song '96) and grandsire (Unbridled '90) accomplished. The Florida Derby has produced two out of the last three Kentucky Derby winners since being switched five weeks prior to the Run for the Roses. Enjoy this race card in South Florida because things will change drastically after this weekend with most of the major outfits heading north to Keeneland and New York. Dubai World Cup R2 - Godolphin Mile #13 Gayego 2nd #4 Two Step Salsa WON #1 Cat Junior #7 Al Morhij (KSA) R3 - UAE Derby #5 Desert Party 2nd #11 Soy Libriano (Arg) 3rd #3 Lelah Dorak (KSA) #10 Jose Adan R4 - Dubai Golden Shaheen #12 Indian Blessing 2nd #9 Machismo #7 Marchand d'Oro #2 Big City Man WON R5 - Dubai Duty Free #5 Hyperbaric #10 Archipenko #7 Kip Deville #13 Paco Boy (Ire) R6 - Dubai Sheema Classic #1 Front House (Ire) #13 Doctor Dino (Fr) #4 Spanish Moon 2nd #7 Purple Moon (Ire) 3rd R7 - Dubai World Cup #4 Asiatic Boy (Arg) #14 My Indy (Arg) #10 Albertus Maximus #8 Casino Drive Gulfstream Park R1 - MSW 42k #6 Just Ben WON #3 Lean Machine #2 Mighty Score 2nd #8 Bear Onamission R2 - Alw 44k N1X #3 Santana Six WON #6 Pressure Point 4th #5 Jet Set Vinny 3rd R3 - Md 15k #4 Nos Man 3rd #8 Tango Ridge #3 Cherokee Unbridled 2nd #2 Behind the Pew R4 - Clm 35k N2L (Turf) #7 Soul Spirit 3rd #2 Hedgefund Investor WON #8 Pasiano Creek #4 Bordeaux Bandit R5 - MSW 42k #3 Nicanor 2nd #8 Juliano 4th #6 Birdrun 3rd #5 Glittermans Cartel WON R6 - Alw 44k N1X #12 Bold Abbott 3rd #6 Sol a Pino #7 Big Jerome #10 Big Al 2nd R7 - OC62k/N2X #11Motovato 3rd #9 Vitruvius WON #1 Groomedforvictory 2nd #7 SCR R8 - OC62k/N2X (Turf) #9 Bujagali #11 Radical Sabbatical #4 Rogue Victory WON #7 Blues Street 2nd PK4 - 3 5 6 8 / 6 7 10 12 / 9 11 / 4 9 11 = $48 ($.50 play) R9 - G2 Swale #6 Big Drama DQ'd to 2nd #2 B Z Warrior #1 This Ones for Phil WON #5 Brave Victory 4th R10 - G1 Florida Derby #4 Dunkirk - What he lacks in seasoning, he makes up with raw talent. Must prove he belongs after dominating the competition in his 1st two career starts. Will earn his way into the Derby if he can run down Quailty Road. I usually don't get too excited about overhyped types, but this grey has been flat out impressive. 2nd #2 Quality Road - Fountain of Youth winner will try and answer the two turn question before being considered a top Derby candidate. Will he regress after the huge performance in the FOY? WON #5 Sincero - Hard to imagine him winning under any circumstance, but a must play underneath at long odds. #6 Theregoesjojo - Must take another step forward to contend with top two. 3rd PK3 - 4 5 7 9 11 / 1 2 6 / 2 4 = $30 R11 - G3 Appleton (Turf) #5 Bold Start #9 Artic Cry 2nd #10 Pickapocket #2 Vanquisher 4th R12 - MSW 42k #5 Street Talk'n Man 3rd #2 Courageous Cat 4th #1 Audeamus #3 Jacoby's Run WON PK4 - 1 2 5 6 / 2 4 / 2 3 5 9 10 / 2 5 = $40 ($.50 play) Magna 5 Leg A - LRL R9 - Harrrison E. Johnson Memorial Handicap 50k #8 Bullsbay - The future looked bright coming in to 2009 after dominating wins at Churchill Downs in the fall. 2nd to Delightful Kiss in the G3 Hals Hope, eased in the G1 Donn, and 2nd at odds on in similar event to this. It's time he shows that he can handle these and be competitive versus graded company. Singleton WON Leg B - SA R4 - San Miguel 70k #3 Turk - Finally broke through in start #4 for Baffert. Has been odds on in 3 of 4 career starts, but to his credit it was against solid company. #4 Gotmymojoworkin - Back to his favorite surface after a wasted trip to Florida for the Sunshine Millions Dash. Bullet on Wednesday. #6 Charlie's Moment - Much better sprinting as demostrated by his stakes win at Golden Gate in his most recent start. Leg C - GP R9 - G2 Swale #6 Big Drama #2 B Z Warrior #1 This Ones for Phil WON #5 Brave Victory Leg D - SA R5 - MSW 45k #6 Hard Kisses - Made a late run to finish 3rd in debut and Baffert scores at 20% 2nd time out. WON #3 Shiska - Closed well in same race as Hard Kisses to grab 2nd and 1st time lasix should help. #7 Gumption - Grey filly has come up short in 1st two races, but adds the hood and has been packing bullets. #1 Wada Falls - Has shown a long string of works for owner/trainer Jeff Mullins. Leg E - GP R10 - G1 Florida Derby #4 Dunkirk - What he lacks in seasoning, he makes up with raw talent. Must prove he belongs after dominating the competition in his 1st two career starts. #2 Quality Road - Fountain of Youth winner will try and answer the two turn question before being considered a top Derby candidate. Will he regress after the huge performance in the FOY? WON Magna5 - 8 / 3 4 6 / 1 2 5 6 / 1 3 6 7 / 2 4 = $96 Good Racing Luck
