Default Taxi Fleet and Harlem Rocker --- depends on which coast you're on

Both were guilty of the same thing: coming over and taking the path of another horse, forcing it to check. TF came out, HR came in. HR came DOWN; TF stayed UP.

Guess the inconsistency in this case can be attributed to 'coastal' bias.

Should I bite on this Fman? One thing about Rocker is when he makes the lead he likes to wait on horses, saying that he moved 2 lengths clear of TOE when Prado decided to switch paths he probably decided to sell the DQ, watch the replay and you will see Coa pretty much going by TOE with ease, the charts again are in error again mind you saying it was a steady, even Durkin stated Prado switched to the outside, now give Prado all the credit here, if he stayed to the inside I doubt a DQ would have been rewarded, smart, heady move and he got the call.

All you can hope for, is the calls even up for you as a bettor, better yet come out on top. I saw that yesterday also Taxi Cab...I guess the difference is the horse interfered with finished well back.

yea, Hollendorfer going to get dq'd, dude is bringing major amounts of horses and filling races the past year, they aint taking him down.

I had the second place horse so I am hardly objective but I knew that horse was never coming down for a horrible infraction.

They used to say that about Frankel also, stewards are intimidated making a DQ with his horses. I wish that wasn't true, and I don't know if it is. But it's very possible I would say.

I thought the DQ was warranted. I certainly don't want horses that take the path of others, in a drive, to be kept up.

Rather than blaming the horse or the stewards, you really need to look at your jock. Rocker struggled momentarily and then 'skip' changed early stretch. He was pumped for a few strides THEN COA, out of habit I suppose, busted him righty a few times, causing him to go in. Subtle YET got him DQd.

Don't take much to lose a race.

I'm going to move on with this because it may come across to some that I am disgruntled, atleast from your reply to me it sounded like that, It's horseracing and today is a new day and really every point of view I present would be under a biased opinion, even though I believe I am being rationale with my opinions. To me this is no different than a conversation we would be having at the track or OTB, if I said to you with a wink "didn't prado sell that dq well"

Well I think Steve said it best today both TOE and HR would have been deserving winners, that I can agree with and I'll just leave it at that.

Taxi Fleet was by far the best though. why punish the bettors and dq a much the best horse who shoved his way out?

fine the jockey? ... yes. take the purse away and give em the purse one spot behind who he fouled? ... maybe. but DQ him when he was by far the best? ... no

the problem with that logic is it leaves the stewards in a position where they have a lot of latitude that frankly I don't think they have shown they deserve.

The Taxi horse cost the Mitchell horse a better placing. I'm a horizontal player. Do I think Taxi' was gunna win anyways? Yes. I care about the winner. I don't care about the other placings. So, we have conflicts of interest going on these days, because the multirace wagering is almost all based on winning. So, they need to take that into account. They have to try to make sure the horse who was best gets the win(if they can.) In this case, it was Taxi. The outcome of this inquiry totally depends on your emphasis(do you want to protect the horses who are cost a chance at 2nd or 3rd place, or do you want to make sure the best horse gets the win?) There is no way you could do both here. He fouled the Mitchell horse. They have no excuse for leaving him up(unless they are trying to make sure the best horse on the day is kept in 1st place.) This is philosophy. The evidence is the horse who won is guilty. Now, in New York, it was a totally different situation. For one thing, there is a shrinking margin of victory. O.K., if you foul(or might have fouled) then don't win with a shrinking margin of victory. That's just not good. It's very difficult to say he didn't cost that 2nd place horse the few inches separating them. Normally, I would say to leave this gray horse up. A lot of people would say he was clear(I have never agreed that you're clear when you swerve into the direct path of another horse.) If TOE wasn't cutting the deficit down(a lot) then I would leave Rocker up. To me, this is the tougher call. The HWD PARK call is easier. He fouled. No doubt about it. Do you take the best horse down? It's tougher to tell the best horse(in the Cigar Mile.) That's a hard call. Comes down to whether that's a foul. I've always thought that what he did is a foul, but I have heard others justify that by saying they were clear.

I agree. I believe Taxi Fleet should have come down after that brutal wack job on Hoist the Sail. It all boils down to if it cost the other horse a position.

Harlem Rocker coming in on Tale of Ekati cost him the 1s place position since TOE was gaining ground on the inside. Hoist the Sail was running even or losing ground but nonetheless was hit hard by some careless riding
