Default starting gate - ny

How can this happen yesterday and an aux gate not be close by eneough to be ready to go.

Why didn't NYRA give refunds on the 9th if they knew that time / darkness was going to prevent the race from being run?

I spoke to one of our trainers about this situation this morning. He was under the impression that the "second" gate was on the turf course, but that the ground was too soft with all the rain that came yesterday to get that gate on the main track.

NYRA did give refunds of all 9th race wagers, and in any multiple-race wagers, the 9th race was treated as an "all" situation.

thx

i just don't understand how the DD money could not be refunded when they knew the 9th was not going to make it due to darkness

i understand why the p3 and p4 had to go to all , but, before the 8th started they must have known that the 9th was not going to be run, thus as a bettor i wouldn't have made those late DD plays

A consolation double was paid, as the rule states, and anyone that used the 8th winner was properly compensated. It's the fairest overall result.

You can choose to disagree...but I don't really understand what else there is to say.

thx andy

i didn't use senorita so you can see i lost my DD wager in addition i died in the p4 in that leg and wasn't happy

from a customer prerspective the right thing to do in my opinion would have been to refund all DD wagers prior to the 8th going off since there was no way the 9th could have been run due to the long delay, i realize the pick 3, 4 and 6 had to go to the all for the 9th

obviously they will not lose customers over this so they can get away with it

as for the 8th race itself do you think the long delay had any effect on the outcome of the race ?

Using phrases like " get away with it " just reveals your agenda.

I won't make the mistake of responding to you again.

there is no agenda here

i lost , i could have walked up to the window and asked for my $ back before the 8th went off , making a good educated guess that the 9th was never going to run

but the bottom line equipment failed to work which caused a delay and led to a race being cxld. why not do the customer a favor and refund all DD wagers?

i'll know next time to pull a DD wager if there is a chance of darkness

does anybody know what othere venues would have done with the DD?

no doubt you'd look at this differently had you had the winner in the 8th, and received the payoff for the all in the 9th. but i think you're looking at it as 'hey, i wouldn't have made the losing bet had they cancelled it'. perhaps you're a bit biased at this point because of how your bet went?

no question i am biased becaue i lost

but the issues is still valid , why should the bettors pay for nyra's equipment failure

i have no issue in losing the pick 4

in fact i would have no issue if they posted on the toteboard that due to a delay in the 8th , the entire card my not be run , play the late double at your own risk, all multi race wagers will be good even if the 9th cannot be run due to darkness

my key was in the 9th and my point was if NYRA had given any indication to it's patrons that the 9th "may not run due to darkness" , i would not have played as i am sure others wouldn't have either if they had a key horse in the 9th and were spreading in the 8th

still Tom , they could have given us a warning that the 9th was not going to be run

the patron is left to guess what might happen

would this happen at Hawthorne and other tracks?

The fault lies with track management. It was obvious at the start of the 7th race that there was a problem with the gate when they had to do a manual start.

There was plenty of time to cancel the 9th race or get the turf gate in place. Unfortunately there wasn't anyone at Aqueduct who could make an instant decision. The indecisiveness is what's frustrating.

Not at Hawthorne because they have lights.

But yes it would happen at most tracks because the management at most of them aren't real leaders. They need to have a meeting to discuss a meeting to do one simple task.

And we wonder why the country is going bankrupt...

Obviously you wouldnt have hit the dd anyway, if you didnt have the winner.
But atleast if yoiu had the winner in race 8, you would have gotten a win bet on that horse.....it is the usual thing that happens at ALL tracks,in regards to the dd.... whenever A race is cancelled.
