Who could benefit from the Dispatch Charity Handicapping Contest? Posted by PatCummings One racing-related charity will earn $900 thanks to the handicapping prowess of one of their supporters in this weekend's first annual Racing Dispatch Charity Handicapping Contest. Each of the participants is putting up $100 of their own money and will make a selection (plus one alternate) in each race from Saratoga's Travers Day card and Sunday's Pacific Classic card at Del Mar. Here are the charities selected by each of the participants: Steve Byk - Old Friends (http://www.oldfriendsequine.org) Michael Chamberlain - LOPE Texas (http://www.lopetx.org) Larry Collmus - Robby Albarado Foundation (http://www.robbyalbaradofoundation.org) Pat Cummings - National Museum of Racing (http://www.racingmuseum.org) John DaSilva - Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (http://www.trfinc.org) Nick Kling - Don MacBeth Memorial Jockey Fund (http://www.macbethfund.org) Mersad Metanovic - CARMA (http://www.carma4horses.org) Travis Stone - Anna House (http://bcca.org) Nick Tammaro - Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation (http://www.grayson-jockeyclub.org) The participant with the highest combined win-place mutuels (per-race mutuels capped at $42 for win and $22 for place) at the end of the contest will be declared the winner, and their charity will receive the money. Following the races at Saratoga, standings will be updated and posted here on the site. http://www.racingdispatch.com/Dispat...ing_Contest-1/ Good luck to all. ![]() |
