Great inspiration for those that wish to follow their dreams too.
I applaud Steve for sharing his passion.
I also hope all the readers on this board pay careful attention to his insights.
Saratoga is THE MEET we've waited all year for.
Wishing success to all!

Excellent. I especially like the Sweetnorthernsaint part, it made me feel better for losing all my money betting on him in the derby.

I agree, the new piece was indeed a sparkling one. I think more than anything it shows how ones passion can blossom into heights never imagined previously.

Like Bykster, I find Saratoga to be one of the few remaining pure entities in this country. It's tough for someone outside of horse racing (be it a fan or having a vested interest in the game) to see the outright glamour of Saratoga. I know when I tell friends I am going to spend a week up there, I sometimes get some crossed eyed looks, probably wondering why I'm not spending my money going to Aruba or some place exotic. My girlfriend still actually drops those looks at me still...and she should know better!

Truth be told, there is no place on earth I would rather be during the summer.
I love driving out through western Massachusetts and up through the Adirondacks with the windows down, living out of a suitcase in a woodsy hotel, and spending a week getting up early to have breakfast at Saratoga and watch some workouts...come back for a read of the paper and a nap before post time. Enjoy the races and head back for another night on the local scene.

It's the best.

this is another good article by Steve. He is a talented writer.
I think one part of the article that gets overlokked, that gets mention by Steve on a number of occasions in this forum, is his thanks to his friend Mike. Apparently from what I can gather from the outskirts, he is the underlying inspiration of the message board and a force in its creation. but i guess we all know that and it doesn't need to be touched upon again.

ninetoone = nine to one

i always thought it was prononunced "nin toon"

opps.....
