Thank you for the link. I recall Massoud, his last was the first race of the 07 Spa meet. The crowd had quickly dispersed after the race. Myself and one other person way down the rail watched as Massoud, his dignified profile visible through the van windows was trucked to his fate.

one wonders why Massoud is brought up since it is not part of the article by Plonk. I guess its kinda the same way the article on War Emblem recalled the fond memories of Golden Missile.

I'm sure Sumitas forgot that Massoud broke down on the turf and was trying to get in yet another pro-polytrack jab.

i thought it was turf, but didn't say anything because I wasnt sure. I knew that someone else would catch it if it were.

even more curious then why Massoud was brought up, completely off the mark once again.

It wouldn't be Sumitas if it wasn't off the mark.

You know, for the caterwailing out there on how awful dirt is for horses, I'd suggest many of these same people head to the steeplechase sometime. Turf can do a horse harm just as easily as dirt.

Jim, you didn't read the article about War Emblem so cut your crap. Part of the article is break downs . I guess you all just can't deal with the article. Nothing new. I'm glad the board has some new posters with new input instead of the same old crap youall spew out.

I want somebody here familiar with football and baseball to give us a list of maybe the past 20 noticeable injuries they've heard about this latest season.

And then I'm going to compare those injuries to the same in a horse. And see how many of those players would have to be euthanized if they were a horse.

Would Barry Bonds be a good example? Granted his injuries didn't occur this season but seems he fits in this thread.

The fatality rate in TB racing is two-tenths of one percent. That's 0.002

The reason some injuries are fatal is because of the obvious - horses are designed to walk 18 hours a day, not stand still for hours, not lay down for hours. How impotent-feeling and frustrating is that, to have to euthanize a horse for something repairable in many other species?

An Olympic skier who dislocates an ankle and has a spiral fracture of the other leg on the downhill, doesn't have to be dead.

People both in and out of the sport seem to fail to understand this.
