Default 3/10: Gulfstream (6th-9th)

Intense weekend with Saturday's Stakes-laden action having been the focus of energies. Fair Grounds LA Derby card as pleasureable as was anticipated with winning performances spread generously around: Pyro (Asmussen/Bridgmohan), Proud Spell (Jones/Seaz), Proudinsky Frankel/Gomez), Circular Quay (Pletcher/Gomez), Euroears (Calhoun/Zimmerman) and Danceroftherealm (Pierce/Mena)..

At Aqueduct in the Gotham, Michael Matz' Visionaire emerged late to catch TAP's Texas Wildcatter, but at Gulfstream, it was Clement's Mauralakana catching the pair of Matz longshots at the wire of the Very One.. Earlier at Hallandale, Commentator again demonstrated that when healthy, he remains a devastating force as he crushed overmatched foes in the Richter Scale, and at Oaklawn, frontrunning stalwart Jonesboro did his thing once again for Randy Morse wiring the Razorback..

On the West Coast, Frankel's Ariege upset Barry Abrams' Golden Doc A in the Santa Anita Oaks. Late Saturday in Ess Eff, Autism Awareness, in as remarkable and developing a story as you can imagine, stunned Bay Meadows' El Camino Real Derby at more than 60-1. Purchased for $1,000, Autism Awareness is being campaigned by a couple whose son suffers from the enigmatic developmental affliction..

Sunday, stars Nashoba's Key and Hysterical Lady returned to their winning ways in the Santa Margarita and Azeri respectively, and Brian Lynch saddled the latest late developing Stronach stakes winner as Sring Waltz danced home in the Rampart..

Hope you enjoyed the weekend and did well.. More weekend coverage in my column at Derby Trail.com..

Holy Crap!!! Angelouie??????????

I've been waiting for this horse to make his return for some time now. It's been close to a year since he last raced. His last few at Belmont and Gulfstream have made me a fan of his. Plays the part of the stretch runner to a tee. I'm so excited to see if he still has that late burst. If he goes off at 3-1 or higher, I may have to play him WP. Also, keyed in exacta with 3,4 and in the tri with 2,3,4,11.

Steve, do you know why he was put on the shelf? I've asked about him before but nobody had any news for me. Thx in advance...

The 5th looks interesting, I'll stab at Treasure Cay. At Attention looks like he will get most of the attention in here.

TWO of the WORST ****in back to back rides I've gotten in 30 years of playing.

Prado in the 7th

Lezcano in the 9th --he really needs to make TWO wide moves and then be looking INSIDE while the winner comes to his outside

Lovely

If I played the way these ****ers ride, I'd be broke

I thoroughly enjoyed Prado pressing the 12 the whole way with no intention of passing him until the far turn. It makes it even more enjoyable when the longshot I include wins.

Prado definitely didnt do Angelouie any favors by running him up the a$$' of the lead horses. He should have swung wider with him around the turn for home, a move that would have prevented that last check-up. I would have had the tri for sure and should have played the super.... Good to see the horse back though, he'll get his run at things for sure...
