Default Tampa Thursday 02-28-08

Pick 4

Race 7 - Clm 8000 N2L 6.5f Dirt:

6 - My Monarchos - Only has to be almost as good as last year to beat these. Won
10 - Borobeta - 8k N2L's don't breeze 36 and 2 unless they are really feeling good.
4 - Disco Bunny - Second out over the Tampa sand. A couple of okay works since her last effort. 3rd $1 tri paid $138.00
11 - Zaam Time - Important switch back to her maiden breaking jock. 2nd $1 Ex paid $33.70

Race 8 - Alw 20200 N1X 7f Dirt

2 - Coffee Can - Won her debut going away. Fired two bullets since. Bennett 38% second out. Rosemary takes over from her ex. Do you want any more?
4 - Positivelycharming - Turns back from her two turn maiden romp. Won't get away with that slow pace here.

Race 9 - OC 32k/N2X Abt. 8.5f Off the Turf

7 - Starlet Sky - Goes for three in a row. Steps up in class. Scr.
5 - Nyarhini - Not quite good enough in So. Fla. Beyers say yes. Scr.
6 - The Lady Waffles - Been knocking on the door. Ready to kick it in.

Race 10 - MCL 25000 6.5f Dirt

12 - Mocha Blast - Trippi above average with firsters. Half sis won at first asking. KOC never works them fast.
1 - Name That Song - Goes from the outside to the inside. Doesn't need to improve much to take these.
7 - Repenting - Didn't like the two turns. Turns back to sprinting sporting a nice breeze since his last.
11 - March Trend - Was running late in his debut. Will enjoy the extra half furlong.

Small Ticket:

4,6,10,11/2/1,3,6/1,7,11,12 = $48

Big Ticket:

4,6,10,11/2,4/1,2,3,4,6,8/1,7,11,12 = $192

Race 7 - First race is a complete mess of rats and at 7 deep I could still miss the winner
A) 5 Angels Encore - 2nd off layoff, speed and fade first out, good trainer, like at ML odds
A) 6 My Monarchos – Beats these if runs back to form of a year ago
B) 3 Luna Princess – Improving pace figures so form cycle could be improving to run big
B) 4 Disco Bunny – Underlay at ML odds. Drops in class and added bandages off layoff? Not good.
B) 10 Borobeta – Should probably cut but rider change and last workout show possible big effort
B) 2 Jessica's World – Have to include the horse probably on the lead at 1st and 2nd call at 20-1

Race 8 – Very nice group here and almost everyone has a shot.
A) 8 Mooji's Sister – Love this horse here. 2nd twice in this company and on the improve
A) 4 Positivelycharming – The other logical contender but might not get lead with this group. Then what?
B) 6 Tenacious Gator – Has a chance at a price. Has run fast enough before and 4th in this class 2 back.
B) 2 Coffee Can - 2nd time starter with bullet works. Big step up in class. Can certainly win but has to be a special horse.

Race 9 – Nice field of turf goers here. Went 3 deep but 5 or 6 could win. OFF THE TURF
A) 6 The Lady Waffles – 3 straight in the money in this class
A) 1 Meddling - Adding
B) 2 Slickenside - Adding
B) 3 Speeding Fever - Adding

Race 10 – Some interesting FTS in this group that I can't afford to include
A) 1 Name That Song - 2nd time starter who was 2nd in class first out. Small improvement and wins here.
A) 7 Repenting – Speed and fade last out. Drops in class and distance and gets good jock.
A) 11 March Trend - 2nd time starter who was 2nd first out. Slight bump in class but could easily improve enough to win
B) 4 Proud Escapade – Forgetting for a sec that the jock has never been in the money, this is an improving horse.
B) 12 Mocha Blast – First time starter with sire who wins 18% first out. Works show nothing though.

4A for $2 with 1B & 2B backups for $1 is $344

Total pace melt down. I debated to whether to put the 2 or 5 as the last spot on my ticket in the 2nd leg and obviously made the wrong choice. It's a card I should have laid off because I couldn't get a handle on the first leg and spreading there not only cost me money but cost me the opportunity to spread more elsewhere.

Main reason I didn't play this today...Had no strong opinion about this one and had a real problem not including Taxibility...Caught him first out at Tampa for 7 or 8-1 and was beaten next out by the 8 in alw company first time at 6.5f...should not have dismissed him ahead of others stretching the extra half panel...only paid 450.00 for a buck, but a stupid beat nonetheless....Oh well, there is tomorrow Let get back on it!!!
