![]() Heading to Des Moines in a few weeks for business. Is Prairie Meadows worth checking out? How is the casino, specifically the poker room?
Any help is much appreciated. |

Other than visiting the "Field of Dreams," or perhaps a pork celebration, what else is there worthwhile to do? Seriously, I visited Prairie Meadows on a business trip to Iowa back in the early 1990's. I'm sure it's changed, but that night was the only night of my betting career I wagered on dogs, thoroughbreds, and quarter horses in the same evening from one venue. But, I had a good time. I suspect you will, too. Go. |

![]() Yeah the poker room and race-book are both up on the 3rd floor. I agree with Minnskinny. Definately more of a OTB feel, but it's nice, it's clean. Des Moines... not much is goin on there, so you should go to Prairie Meadows. You'll definately get the feel that it's a nice casino that has a racetrack on the side lol. The poker room isn't huge if I remember correctly. Maybe a dozen tables... jaybe less?
