![]() I know Vic is a member of this board. I just wanted to say that I'm really enjoying your calls at Hollypark. I have nothing against Trevor D, but after months of Del Mar, Fairplex, and Oak Tree, it's nice to hear another voice. I appreciate that every race sounds a little bit different. What was Gulfstream Park thinking letting you go? Continued success.

Have any special calls planned for "the monkey" today? Win or Lose? |

![]() Don't think so Sooner. Kind of a bad situation for all involved no matter what happens. Will probably just call it and see what happens.

![]() vic i remember when you called races for 1 meet@hawthorne. you are 1 of my fav race callers(you and wrona) but at first i didnt like ya no offense LOL. i was so bitter about the way kevin goemmer(rip) was denied the arlington job and becuz of that left chicago racing altogether(was the reg announcer@hawthorne and sportsmans). my judgement of you was unfair and towards the end of the meet here i really started taking to and liking your racecalls alot! not sure if you remember but i even wrote you a email begging ya to stay, of course i cant blame ya you moved on to bigger and better things. anyways again and as others have stated here i really enjoy hearing you call a race, how much did ya enjoy lava man in the whittingham???????????

![]() Vic,
I too prefer your calls to that of the "other California" race caller. I truly enopy your calls and am glad to hear you back at Polywood. Keep up the good work.

![]() Yup, Vic is the man. My favorite racing is Hollywood Park's Friday night racing. I love kicking back, playing those Friday Night races and listening to vics calls. Something about it draws me in. Awesome announcer during the Santa Rosa Fair also. No offense to Micheal Wrona, I like him too, but it would be very cool if Vic stauffer called BM and GGF. Or at least one of them.

Many great memories when I got there as well. Seeing how amazingly beautiful it was. Calling the Flamingo Stakes. Pistols and Roses. The grey horse of Marty Wolfson's whose name escapes me. Watching the Flamingos fly once a day before the feature. The wonderful old school press box. The great Cuban food just outside the gates. I should have never left Hialeah. Even though it eventually closed I wish I'd stayed till the end. I left to call Golden Gate Fields because it was closer to home. That was a mistake. A truly GREAT racetrack in it's day. |

![]() [quote=v j stauffer]My best Hialeah memory is standing in the announcers booth at Yakima Meadows and getting a call from as guy named Bob Savage. Bob was the director of marketing at Hialeah and he offered me the announcers job. I drove 3712 miles in the next five days to arrive in time to begin the meet. Seemed like it took half a day. I'd have walked If I had to.

That was a mistake. thanks vic, that was so nice to hear, i believe the horse you were thinking of is forever whirl winner of the 1993 ohio derby and one of martys first real good horses. i believe he either bought or claimed it for about 25-35k. i remember bob savage well, and also realizing how good you were right from the get go at hialeah. by the way was it mihramadi that took your place? and how do you like working with him now on tvg. i notice some um? friction? |
