Default Tears I Cry wins @ 100-1

The 5 year old gelding wins a G1 in Australia @ 100-1. His pedigree is rather modest as well. An amazing victory and my congrats to the connections. Gives one hope doesn't it ?

2nd in the race was 8 yr old gelding Bird Dancer at 90-1.

Australia is nuts like that. Huge fields, and odds that go up and down like a Roller Coaster. I had a maiden score there last month at 80-1. When I bet him with 5 minutes to post, he was 20-1. And he went off at 80-1 and won. The problem? The place payoff was only $21 lol.

As outlandish as Tears I Cry was in the Emirates, the story is enhanced by the 21 year old gal that rode him, Mikita Beriman, and the 26 year old trainer, Ciaron Maher. The former is a diabetic who has battled weight issues to keep herself aboard mounts, and the latter a former jump rider that had to give up the hurdles because of weight and began training just 3 years ago. Tears I Cry had raced just days before on the Melbourne Cup undercard...

when they showed the reaction of the connections as the horse won the race, it was one of total shock and disbelief. you couldn't help but feel happy for them, as much of an improbable win as you will find. the win was set-up by a torrid front end pace that collapsed.
