Default Stallion ad for today's market

In the Bloodhorse daily newsletter:

Half Ours. This is the order in which his attributes are listed.

1. Brilliant 2yo SW, won by 10 lengths at Kee in debut and then won the 2yo race at CD on Derby weekend. [Not noted: then broke down and was out for nearly 2 years.]

2. Sold for $6,100,000 at the November Keeneland Sale, highest ever for a horse in training. [Not noted: these were 50-cent dollars, since it was a case of one equal partner buying out the other.]

3. Graded SW by sire of sires [is he? Songandaprayer is doing okay, but Buddha is a bust so far, any others?] Unbridled's Song, who sold as a 2yo for $1,400,000.

4. Full brother to a $1,700,000 weanling and a $2,600,000 yearling. Their dam sold for $3,600,000 as a broodmare.

5. Oh, yeah, he did come back at 4, won a couple of races, including a questionable-G2 at Gulfstream, at a sprint distances, [but got stuffed when he tried the big boys and got hurt again.]

Who needs to run in tough races to prove your worth as a stallion? All you need is high sales prices. There is hope for The Green Monkey yet.

Half Ours would have been beaten like a drum had he run in tough races, because the version of him that came back at age four simply wasn't all that good.

And what, pray tell, are they asking as a stud fee for this savior of the thoroughbred breed ? His family is not impressive. I would think $3,000 might be reasonable.
