Colletti hasn't had much luck when getting other people's starting pitchers. The only sunshine here is that this is a particularly cheap Athletic Organization(The A's.) If he still has the skills, this guy can be very game.Down the stretch last year,he was a win machine for the A's.I think he has baggage, but can't remember what it is.I think it was too much drinking(maybe.) Keep him and Lowe apart.

Dodgers got 11 runs off the Cubs? That's an embarassment.TheDodger hitters have the smallest hearts in the league.I don't know how anybody gives up that many runs to them.Loiza seems healthy enough.A's are just cheap as can be.They wouldn't sign Frank Thomas for 2 years, but the signed that washed up Piazza for almost the same/year (but just for 1 year.)They dumped Jay Payton,M BRADLEY,and Loiza.LOL..unbelievable......they had incredible chemistry last year, and just threw it away..I just don't get that organization.

In 2006 Loaiza was pulled over in NorCal doing 120 in his Ferrari and failed the field sobriety test. If I recall correctly he was bailed out in the morning and subsequently started that night.....he pitched very well.

Billy Beane banned alcohol in the clubhouse after the incident.

I wasn't that impressed with his stuff, but it seemed effective enough. Save the leadoff HR in the 1st by Soriano which had me looking for a cat to kick.

Default Moneyball results...

Scud -- reread Moneyball. A's are experiment in statistical anomolies instead of team consisting of baseball players.

Process overrates college players, batters who swing less and walk more, and pitchers who fit certain Billy Beane profile.

Object is to move player at his peak value prior to entering arbitration-eligible year. System works for making playoffs. It just does not deliver results during post-season play.

I am lifelong Astros fan... oops, disAstros fan. Or, LAstros, if you prefer. At least your GM is trying to win.

That is the way Loiza looks when he wins.He frustrates the hell out of people.Always looks like he is beatable(except at certain times in the 2nd half last year when he was unbeatable.)He can have a bad streak (like parts of last year,)but today's win against the Cubs was kind of a typical Loiza effort(bend don't break.) My only point about Oakland is that the organization ignored team chemistry. It is not all that easy to get guys trying as hard as that group was trying(in Oakland last year.)

LOL...TOMKO got picked up by the Padres..........That is some major trash digging there. You think the Dodgers were too quick to dump that dog poo??......No f'n way....They were atleast 9 months late in pushing him out the door....Grady gave that guy more chances than he should have got....Let him draw his animals(THAT, HE CAN DO.)

Wow. That makes no sense. Unless they don't have a garbage pitcher to eat innings in games that are forgone conclusions.

Tomko seemed like a nice guy and appeared contrite when he was blowing games for the Dodgers. But lets be honest, he was horrible....The only organization I saw picking him up was Knott's Berry Farm to draw caricatures next to montezuma's revenge.
