Default Live or TV

Following up on the PGA thread...which sports do you prefer watching on TV vs. live and in person and why?

Here's mine:

College Football- Live because of all the pregame tailgating and traditions. (bands-cheerleaders ect)

Golf- TV because you see more action with multiple cameras showing more players. I find it boring to either sit at one hole or follow one foursome around a course.

Baseball- Live. Nothing like being at a big stadium be it Yankee, Fenway, Wrigley for a big game and the place is rockin!

NFL- I have NY Giants season tickets for 22 years...went to my first game in 16 years Saturday night...now I remember why I don't go live anymore. No good replays, no replays of controversial calls, I'd go again to tailgate and watch game on TV from parking lot rather than go inside.

NHL-Definitely live...anybody that know hockey will share same!

College hoops-Only good in on campus arenas. The big NBA arenas don't play well for college hoops. Your usually too far away from the action.

Horse Racing-Live because TV broadcasts suck and watching them turn for home live is the best!

NASCAR-??? Never been live but TV does a great job with all their hi-tech new graphics and replays. I'd like to pull a motor home near the track of a NASCAR event like I used to do for IRL and Daytona/Can Am types at Watkins Glen.

Olympics-LIVE....feeling of country pride there live either as participant or spectator is unbelievable!

I have seen just about every type of event live with the exception of Hockey. To me they are all better live. NCAA Tournament is a blast live...from a spectators perspective, I've been to various rounds of the tournament and always seem to have the most fun at the 1st and 2nd round games.....always a couple of thrillers in there....NBA finals was good...long time ago but was able to go twice and it was cool....Seen a couple or rockin World Series games...While it's hard to keep track of what's going on, NASCAR is awesome live....I say awesome, simply because you can't imagine how fast they really go until you are there.....I went a couple of times to Charlotte and on a portion of the backside, they let you right up to the fence and if you can take the rubber knocking the hell out of you, it literally takes your breath when they go by....42 cars going 190+..it's crazy..Probably the most fun I've ever had at anything live was the triple crown series in '04 until the last couple of strides in the Belmont....I"m not sure I've ever been to anything live and left saying it's better on tv....oh well, besides WWE......

Better on TV:

Golf (no way you can see it all like you pretty much can on TV)
NFL (can't stand the drunken bitching, complaining, stadium seat quarterbacking, would rather be at home with HD and replays as well as the option of switching the channel...)

Better live:

Horseracing
College Hoops
College Football
Hockey
Baseball

Golf- way better on TV, especially in HD

NFL- I must go live, anyone ever been to Lambeau in December? Most other cities probably suck live, but Lambeau field is a must

Hockey is a must live- College Hockey is great also( well at least Badger Hockey)

Nascar- never seen it live, but my guess is the only reason people go there live is to get drunk

Horse Racing- Live!!

Baseball- I can go either way. I love it live, but with HD broadcasts it is great on TV as well

NBA- better off not watching it

NCAA Basketball and Football- better live

There is oe sport over all the rest that needs to be seen live over being seen on TV: HOCKEY!

I'm not even that big of a fan of the sport. I'm more of a bball guy in the winter. But the fact remains that the gap in quality between live hockey and tv hockey is huge. Live hockey is a lot of fun to watch, TV hockey is quite a snoozer.

NFL/College football -- I like TV better on a regular basis. For the social aspect, tailgating, etc. -- no question, live! LOL.

NBA -- I give TV the slight edge for me.

NHL -- Live -- period. 'Nuff said.

Horse racing -- Live.

Gold -- TV, although the corporate/luxury suites are very nice, LOL.

Nascar -- TV. Never been live.

What about "professional" wrestling? LOL.

Eric

football is better on tv. all the replays, angles, etc available on the tube are great. i try to go to one college game live a year--the lsu arkansas game. but it's all definitely better on the tube.

live--hockey!! no way you can get the same feel on the t.v. love the sport, and miss seeing it in the arena.

horse racing is better live, as you can't see them up close, or bet, on t.v. (at least, i can't bet on t.v.).

nascar is boring either way these days.....but, watching on t.v. spares you from seeing all the huuuuge women in bathing suit tops, and men with no shirt on (ugh).
