Default Merv Griffin in Critical Condition

Things are looking bad for ole' Merve. Hope he can pull out of this one. BTW, what has happened to Cobalt Blue? Haven't heard anything about him lately.

Good luck to Merve...

It's a weird how quickly life can turn on one. Just a month or two ago he was looking healthy and serenading Jenine Edwards on TV. Best wishes Merv for full recovery.

It has to be trying times in the O'Neil barn with their best owner and groom spending time in the hospital.

That was my first thought when I heard this too.

Even more trying with their top four 3yos on the shelf as well.

Best wishes to Merv and his family.

I remember watching his variety show in the afternoons when I was a kid. Best wishes to him.

I am a long time viewer of Merv. He's been a credit to the game and I hope he gets well soon.

Apparently he's now gravely ill but Entertainment Tonight also said the latest news is he had a good night last night so there's hope. Merv's such a life force. I hope we get to enjoy this wonderful man for a long time to come. I don't mean to be anything other than optimistic but I just felt like saying that I don't think it'd be out of line to consider Merv as one of those people you ultimately honor with race named after him (just bringing that up makes me feel like I'm saying I don't expect him to make it and I don't want to think about it like that). He could recover and live another 20 years, who knows, but the feeling shining out of him when he sings "My Old Kentucky Home" is magic. He's done a lot for the sport I feel and at some point they should consider recognizing him as they did Bob Lewis.

The key might be that currency up there isn't the same down there. I mean if streets are paved with gold, gathering up a bunch on planet Earth is kinda silly. Aid to road construction isn't what they're looking for. Maybe the most valuable thing to try to buy your way in with is something else, like marshmallow peeps.

This whole thing is pretty strange as medical releases go. Apparently he was readmitted to have his recurrence treated weeks ago but that's as much as we get.
There are many things that can go wrong with advanced prostate which if it's true was picked up on routine physical, (my guess would be his PSA came back elevated and they decided to treat for metastatic or systemic disease)

Whether ole Merv is septic or had a pulmonary embolus, is vented or had an MI they kinda leave you hanging and speculative.

Hopefully though listed as "grave" or "critical" the man has something potentially reversible such as an infection as all infections are potentially reversible. Perhaps he may still do okay if he responds. I pray he didn't stroke or have some devastating consequence that would take the guy who literally invented the game shows we all grew up with and is responsible for one of the greatest quotes of all time said in one stream of consciousness 20 years ago.

"There are two kinds of people in the world Jeopardy people and Wheel of Fortune people."

May we all be considered both lucky and smart......get well Merv we still need ya!!!
