RIP Jack Valenti

One of the most known figures in the motion picture industry passed away at the age of 85.One thing that might not be known is that Mr. Valenti was in the motorcade in November 1963 when President Kennedy was assaisinated.

I read a piece awhile back in USA TODAY, that Mr. Valenti had written. About the an experience at the graves of the Normandy Invasion fallen heroes. Long story short it was about instilling respect in our youth toward the soldiers who have payed a price for our freedom. Very well written piece, quite inspirational. I didn't always agree with Mr. Valenti in terms of his politics, or about movies, but you've got to respect anyone who has the guts to get involved, and to lead. Rest in peace Jack Valenti.

he was in the photo of lbj being sworn in after the assasination but i never knew he was in the motorcade.

now is not the time so i'll leave my opinions of the mpaa aside and just say he had quite an impact on what all of us see at the movies. an interesting influential man.

he told the story on Imus that he flew on Air Force 1, with LBJ as they left dallas.

Scheefer drove Oswalds mother to the police station in dallas!then was able to stay with her for awhile before the FBI found out who he was and they threw him out.

Scheefer's book "This Just In" is very good. (i think thats the title)
