does it even matter, i honestly think he peaked in the fountain of youth................. i see a keyed entry like performance from him in the derby........

You know, I dont know what to expect anymore. I cant see this horse winning, but I couldnt see Giacomo, Funny Cide or War Emblem winning either so what do I know.

If he finishes the derby in 2:13 then he will finish last. What is Currin trying to do? Teach this horse how to rate?? I wont bet on horses who are experimenting on how to rate, especialy for THE DERBY.

You know I have no clue. The lead up to the Derby is all out of whack this year. No Biz adding blinkers and cotton balls, Quay having an 8 week layoff, Street Sense and Great Hunter only two preps, Scat Daddy a 5 week layoff, Curlin didnt race as a two year old, Stormello trying to learn how to rate, Hard Spun a 6 week layoff....who knows what will happen come Derby day. Right now I think Any Given Saturday is looking good. I remember when Thunder Gulch threw in a clunker in the Bluegrass and then won the Derby at 25-1.

I agree. this year and last seem to be getting so far from tradition... it'll be a wonder if anyone can win it. I don't know if Any Given Saturday will have enough earnings to make the Derby They thought they had a chance to pick up money in NY but it didn't happen.

However, I do believe that Stormello has excuses

Don't hold me to it but I think Stormello can still get the lead an still go a long long way

I wonder why they even bother to run the races...all they need to do is to have you put together (in advance) the results charts and a whole lot of effort can be saved...

I'll add to the above - who knows this year. I'm as confused as ever trying to look at the Derby.

It took me until seeing "The Works" last year on TVG to jump on the Barbaro bandwagon, so there no rush. But still looks like some sort of puzzle May 5th.

Saying that he sees a "Keyed Entry like performance" from Stormello in the Derby sounds reasonable to me. The horse simply doesn't belong in a G1 race at 10f.

I have no idea anymore. I don't know how to handicap and i'm really sick of figuring out which trainer has the magic fairy dust. It's tiresome and isn't fun.

I'm counting the days until opening week of the NFL. At least i've got a fighting chance with that.

What pisses me off about this Currin guy is that he totally messed this horse up. This horse WANTED to rate early on, he wasn't a speed ball, then he trains the horse to GO to the front, and now he wants him to rate again. He won that graded races from the back (about 5-7 lengths back and made a great run)

I was going to play the horse hard in the Derby, and still might, but I have zero confidence in Currin, but Stormello has some heart and could last the 10 panels.....

There have been wire to wire winners of the Derby (ie Spendabuck)...there have been quite few horses that have won the derby that lot's of people said beforehand could not...that is why they run the race instead of just taking some peoples word for what the results will be.

Distance concerns aside, he's awfully gutsy, and that's hard to argue with. I think the division is awfully polarized, and he's on the top tier of the second tier... you have to admire his guts.

Bluegrass Cat flew off of everyone's radar last year after getting trounced by Sinister Minister in the Bluegrass Stakes...I mean, he looked pretty bad chasing after SM...He came back to surprise the hell out of me in the Derby..

Last year, I didn't toss Bluegrass Cat because of the Blue Grass, but because I thought he hadn't improved from 2 to 3 and I figured that a Private Vow-like performance would have been in store.

I think that Any Given Saturday is going to take his fair share of money, and while I don't love love love him in the top spot, if the price is right I'll cover him with a win bet while using his number liberally in the exotics.

The thing I remember about BC wasn't just the Bluegrass, because that can be forgiven, especially on a weird track like Keeneland. But he also looked terrible in his workouts leading up to the Derby. I was sure he was over the top, and so was just about everyone else.
