Default 10 min. Seabiscuit reel incl. match race

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SqDiF...endscreen&NR=1

Found this next to the 1938 Hollywood Gold Cup footage making the rounds. Really good footage of Seabiscuit..

Wow! That was so awesome! Thanks for the posting Steve.

I had no idea "Biscuit" was such a nipper

Also pretty amazing at what they ran on way back then.

Great to see this. He had real star quality. What on earth is going on at 3:05? The assistant starter's in front of the horses as they break?

I enjoyed the hollywood version of the movie, but 10:10 min of the real thing to music was so much better!

What was Pollard shouting back to the other jock right after they crossed the finish line?!

That was actually George Woolf up, and he shouted back "So long, Charlie!" to Charles Kurtsinger.

Right about Woolf--thanks. I hadn't realized that the expression "So long Charlie" originated with Woolf and that race.

In some of the Googled links and I think in the movie, too, Woolf supposedly yells "So long Charlie just as Seabiscuit starts to pull away from War Admiral. But in the film clip, Woolf is yelling something after he crosses the finish line. Dramatic license, I guess.

Very cool. Pimlico was packed for the match race. It would be cool to talk to someone who was there, but probably not many around anymore. Thanks sharing steve!

Talking The Movie,Not all the Same!

I got to be a extra at Santa Anita while they were filming there and got to keep a hat and overcoat they wanted me to wear!
The real funny thing was there were about 300 race fans and gamblers there that volunteered to be extras but I don't think they thought it through enough because for "continuity sake" during lunch and breaks they tried to keep all these degenerate horse race players in one spot so they could continue after lunch, well with the O.T.B. in close proximity to the area we were shooting there was no way to keep us from going to get some kind of action while we were standing around.
sure enough a lot of the "Extras" shot were different and if you go through the film looking for yourself it becomes very apparent!
