I feel like a broken record, when all I can say is thanks for posting these here, again. For fans like me who don't get to the track but a few times a year, your photos bring the horses right up close and personal. So again, thanks.

And by the way, is anything quite so awesome as Shackleford?

7 out of 8 hooves in the air in the shot. you are a sick person. nobody is that good. but then again, the proof is in the pudding. a nice 16x24 of that one would really be cool to own. would there be one for sale or trade. i have some cool stuff

And on top of that, Shack looks like he is gritting his teeth, reaching for the wire.....

Awesome shot.

Beautiful...just beautiful

Knowing of course, that the equipment doesn't make the picture, but the "mind" of the photographer does, I'm just curious what type lens/settings did you use here ?

Used a Canon 70-200mm 2.8. Settings on a day like yesterday vary. In the paddock you can get away with setting the aperture and let the camera choose the shutter speed. With the sun and glare on the track, it was hit or miss, so I sacrificed shutter speed, for depth of field. It worked in the stretch.

Thank you for the info...trust me...even with all the innovations in digital photography nowadays, you can't just go out, buy a good camera, and get great shots like these..

Thanks again
