Default name change coming for PHA

I really enjoy going to Penn National Race Course. Unfortunately, I never got there until after the old grandstands were torn down and the racino was built. If I was able to buy a baseball cap with the name Penn National Race Course on it, I certainly would, but every bit of merchandise at Penn National has the Hollywood Casino logo on it. Because I don't especilally care about the casino aspect of Penn National (other than to be grateful for the funding it supplies), and because I'm not a slots zombie, I refuse to endorse Hollywood casino.

Now, it appears that Philadelphia Park will be undergoing a similar name change:

If you've got any Philadelphia Park merchandise, hold on to it. It'll be a collector's item someday.

I'm still looking for Philly Park's original name, "Keystone Racecourse" hat or t-shirt.

Good article. As for ownership being committed to horse racing, we shall see.

I liked Penn National until I found out they have 31% take on tris/supers and 28% on P4s. You're gonna have to do better than that if you want me to bet those mules.

I was just told that Philly Park is closing Sunday through Thursday TO CHANGE OUT THE SLOT MACHINES!!

So they figure that since they are updating the machines, WTF we are just gonna not race either.

Condition book shows no racing during that time so this seems to be a scheduled event from Dec 13 through Dec 18, when racing begins again. And the book has been out for a few weeks.......so this shouldn't be a surprise.

It wasn't a surprise, but the reasoning is ridiculous.

It looks like the second most depressing track on television next to Finger Lakes. The scenery is just god awful.

I've lived in the cities of both places and been to both many times. Philly Park is dreadful. The racing isn't terrible, especially now, but the atmosphere sucks. The scenery is... well, there isn't any.

Finger Lakes has potential. They just don't really care much about the racing, especially now with the slots. Think Turfway, with slots.

The only scenery that really matters is abundantly available to the horsemen. That is the GREEN of the exorbitant purses.
