Default Schilling on the mound tonight, lol

Well in his last "effort" he gave up nine doubles to the worst team in baseball, the Royals. Thats right, I said nine doubles. The guy has been the recipient of some very lucky run support this year but true students of the game know his velocity is down and his ball movement is D) none at this time. Tigers will slap him around like a red headed stepchild tonight and it ought to be fun to watch.

Don't look good for the RSox. Schilling will hold his own, but where is the pitching after that? Beckett is over 5.00 ERA and they really miss Wakefield's innings. Tigers beat them again. Maybe Pudge will sell hot dogs between pitches tonight.

Red Sox are in serious trouble. Not only do they trail the Yanks by three now, they trail the White Sox by 3 1/2 and Minny by 1 in the wilcard race.

I'm kidding Kev. And we arent going down with any ship. Yankees will never win a world series with a guy like Giambi on their team. Bad karma is a bitch.
Hoping the Sox can close the gap to 2 games by Friday.

To two? How exactly is that gonna happen? Yanks have two more against Baltimore that they should win, and Bost has two against the Tigers which I expect a split on. That would be 4. Boston beating the Yanks in both games of the doubleheader on Friday? I just can't see it. I see them going 3-2(either team) in the 5 game series like they always do. I see Yanks by3 or 4 after the weekend. Then the Sox go to LA and the yanks hit Seattle. And then they switch with the Yanks going to LA and Sox going to Seattle. Can't see much movement between them there either. Sox have seen their last days this year in first place. Its the wildcard for them or nothing. Cano was awesome again last night. He was the guy they needed back more than anyone and man is he doing it at the plate and in the field.

I think its going to be real tough for the Red Sox to win the wildcard Mike. Its the division or its tee times at the Cape. They now have to get by the Twins and the White Sox (or the Tigers), thats 2 teams that are in the same division that will play each other head to head, meaning very little change in their wildcard positions.

As far as the division goes, at least they have 9 chances head to head to best the team they need to catch. And its only 1 team, not 2.

If they cant beat the Yankees in at least 3 of 5 games this weekend its goodbye wildcard. Then their only hope would be a Yankee collapse which doesnt look all that realistic given the way they have been playing.

Tim I can't stand Arod but the only good thing in that trade was that the Yanks developed Cano. Soriano is awesome but this kid Cano is a joy to watch. Hes a real hitter, last night he went the opposite way with a picth for the game winning hit. He hits for average and even has power and hes a vacuum cleaner in the field. Hit a ball to that guy and its an automatic out and when he has to cover 2nd on the double play he throws missiles to first after a clean turn. Looks like either Sheff or Matsui will make it back and thats curtains for everyone in postseason. The Yanks postseason line up will look like this
CF Damon
2B Jeter
RF Abreu
3B Arod
1B Giambi
DH Sheffield or Matsui
C Posada
2B Cano
LF Cabrera

Lots of luck beating that lineup. Thats a pitcher's worst nightmare, no matter how good they pitch. Can you imagine having to face Posada, Cano and Cabrera at the BOTTOM of the order? Man, thats just crazy. It still leaves Bernie Williams, and Craig Wilson to fill in or pinch hit and take the field if needed. I see no way how the Red Sox are gonna run them down, it would take a real collapse by the Yanks and I just can't see it with that much talent.

Its going to be a challenge and the first thing they need to do is take the weekend series against the Yankees.

Stranger things have happened, in 2004, who would have thought we could have come back from 0-3 down in the postseason, winning 4 straight, 2 in NY? Granted, this year's team is better for NY and not as good for Boston, but you never know Mike. Lost of time remaining on the clock to make up 3 games against a team you have 9 left with.

The Red Sox have the talent, they are just playing like crap. Its the same team that went on an eleven game win streak in June/July so it is possible things will turn for the better.

I do believe the White Sox are the team to beat and if its them the Red Sox have to chase in the Wildcard, then its a division title or nothing.

I'm not. Strapped in for a great weekend series and a fantastic finish to the season. I love this team, win or lose.
Baseball's post season is something I look forward to more than anything else throughout the year. I can still enjoy if my Sox arent in.

I'm no huge Yankee fan but my wife is from the University/Fordham area of the Bronx so I follow and somehow their pitching is better than expected lately:
Mussina. Very solid. Still a top 10 AL pitcher
Johnson: Winning somehow. Guy does know how to pitch.
Wright: Biggest plus lately. 1 bad game in 5 weeks.
Wang: Wango got bango-ed against LA but he's been solid
Lidle: Not bad for the back end.
Ponson: Ugh. You see El Sid, it's not good news.

And Rivera.

It's enough as long as Wright, and Wang keep going good. I think you can count on Johnson and, especially, Mussina.

LOL! 1 1/2 is even better than 2.

Hes talking about Jared Wright, I am sure of it. Hes pitched far beyond anyone's expectations this year.
