Depends what you are looking for Point Given.
You cant beat the quality racing that Gulf has on Saturdays this time of year. If it were me, I'd go there no matter what the facility was like. Tampa doesnt have quality, the track may look a lot nicer but the horses that race there are not much. Go to Gulfstream.

Gulfstream...

I love Tampa racing, but it's kind of a dump.

Go to Gulf.

Spend $5 or whatever and get a seat in the grandstand (free to park and get in).

No matter what people say, sitting in the grandstand at Gulf is the best seat at ANY racetrack for watching the races. The apron is small which means the g'stand is very close to the track itself.

That said, I really like Tampa.

LMAO

I think it's disgraceful what they did to Gulfstream Park, but in all honesty, I (as a female), don't feel unsafe there and feel comfortable enough walking around by myself. I can't say the same for Tampa (unless it's a major stakes day or something.) I go to TBD more often because of its proximity to my house, but it's definitely not a high class place.

Gulfstream is the perfect place because you'll never want to go again and more than likely will tell them so.

I've never been to any track in Florida, I was just speaking of the racing.
You can be assured to see big names and big fields on Saturdays at Gulf.
How bad can the place be? I mean everything is new. By no means does it probably match Saratoga but what track does?

never been to tampa, but gulfstream is beautiful. it's not a horseplayer's paradise by any stretch because it's really just a glorified casino with racing.

with that said, while the facility is sort of a shithole as far as racing is concerned (because it's so secondary), it is nonetheless a beautiful facility with lots of amenities and some of the best racing around right now.

i can't wait to go back.

A related question .... Is tampa bay anything worth going to on the day of the tampa bay derby? It would require quite a bit of effort so I was wondering if it was worth it?

I am a bit biased, but absolutely.

Grade III Tampa Bay Derby - 300k
Florida Oaks - 200k
Grade III Hillsborough - 150k
Turf Dash - 75k

Sounds like a nice card to me.
