![]() If the weather is okay, will they run? Or are the jockeys still refusing?
Any info would be appreciated. On a sad note, Jimmy O was one of the horses euthanized along with Cadilac Cruiser. I had him on my watch list and bet him last time when Chantal rode him at 13/1. I was going to play him on Saturday but my hangover prevented me from it. RIP Jimmy O (and Cadilac Cruiser). |

![]() The riders didn't cancel Sunday.
It is supposed to be in the high 20s both Wednesday and Thursday so there is no reason they won't be running. |

![]() They will be running Wednesday.
The jockeys did refuse to ride Sunday from what I've read and heard. It wasn't due to track conditions or weather. The dispoute involves which hospital the jockeys go to after a spill. The hospital in Jamaica, NY is still going to be the hospital the jockeys go to if they suffer a serious injury, or if it is a head injury (they have the facilities to handle these injuries). The jockeys were not particularly impressed with their treatment in general at Jamaica Hospital, and will now be taken to North Shore University Hospital for less serious injuries. |

Let me repeat....the jockeys did NOT cause Sunday's cancellation by refusing to ride on that day. NYRA cancelled the Sunday races on Saturday afternoon shortly after the jockeys refused to ride out the remainder of the Saturday card. While part of NYRA's decision was based on the impending cold on Sunday, and thus the feeling the jockeys well may not have ridden, the decision was made strictly by NYRA and NOT the jockeys. |

![]() The jockeys may not have cancelled the performace, but they were not going to ride.
NYRA made the decision to cancel, in part because of the weather, but if the jocks aren't going to ride the weather is irrelevant. I suppose that works both ways, but it was not a weather decision alone on NYRA's part. The jockeys refusal to ride was not based on weather or track conditions. It was based purely on the hospital issue. |

Oh yes, and nobody was aware of the weather. NYRA itself acknowledges that their decision was based in part because of the weather, in part because of the hospital issue. The jockeys only had one reason to not ride, the hospital issue. There would have been no racing at AQU if the weather was 70 and sunny without the hospital issue being resolved. |

What I took exception to was your inaccurate statement that racing was cancelled Sunday because the jockeys refused to ride. That is simply not true. They were, in fact, surprised when they heard Sunday's races had been cancelled. Whether or not the riders would have ridden Sunday had NYRA not cancelled the card is pure speculation. |

I'm new here, so I'm a little unaware of how informed the forum in general was regarding the hospital issue, which would be the only obstacle to racing on Wednesday. I also probably misinterpreted your initial post that hinted that the only reason not to run Wendnesday would be weather related. This is why I brought up the hospital issue in the first place. |
