The new Seattle

I have in many ways become new Seattle when it comes to picking sports games. It goes like this.

1.) I like a team to win a game
2.) They return the opening kickoff for a touchdown
3.) They are gauranted to lose

Its funny you should say that. When the Bears returned the opening kick-off I had a sinking feeling, thinking that it would be their undoing. It kinda takes you out of your game mood, maybe makes you over confident, etc. When you really want a kick returned for a TD is in the second half when you need something to turn things around for you, to get a boost, to put the game out of reach, etc. When It happens on the opening kick-off its like it just serves to focus the opposition right from the get go.

It just seems like I have noticed that an early score like that more often than not turns out to be in a losing effort.

Just an observation, not an excuse. The way the Bears played defense they weren't going to win anyway.

I thought Manning was masterful, he had that early int then stuck to the game plan, his numbers were excellent against that "D" and in that weather...I hear folks saying he didn't deserve MVP, they must have seen a different game...nobody was gonna beat the Colts yesterday, the Bears gave it their best but turnovers and shaky QB play doomed them...the best team won! Somebody needs to give Manning credit for what he is...the best QB ever!

Sorry if you inferred anything from my post being directed at Manning. That was not my point at all. I was just commenting on what happens to teams that get a quick gift before the offense has even taken the field.

The Colts played very well, and Manning is very good. The best quaterback ever seems like a huge stretch imo. BTW, you said the bears gave it their best. Umm, I don't agree with that, it was not their finest hour. It looked like a sub-par effort from them compared to the rest of the season.

With that said, I reluctantlyagree that the best team won.

the colts offensive line won that game. manning had easy pickings in the short secondary -- 8, 9 yard passes etc.

but whether he was throwing 5 yards or 50, he had ALL day every play. that was the bears undoing.

there are no excuses, even from me for last night...the colts deserved every bit of that win because the bears didn't play remotely near how well they can.

Well...the whole game was screwy....sunny Miami....torrential rain hampers QB's....the only slips were by Grossman, both running and throwing....it's a shame Benson went down...but the Colts really handled both lines of the game.
