Default 1/19: Oaklawn Opening Day

It was a maddening miss in the P4 at Gulfstream Thursday, with no excuse for not snaring the fabulous $3,000+ pot. On top winners in the 7th and 8th and the 2nd choice winner in the 6th left the ticket with a single of Affect in the nightcap. It was a poor use of the multiples, having gone 4x4x3 to get to the single.

Whether limiting the plays to <$50 is the issue or overconfidence in specific horses, failing to capitalize on opportunities like Thursday's can be the difference at the end of the year between a profit or loss.

Oaklawn Park opens its' popular meet Friday, and many big outfits are based at Hot Springs again with another contigent of Derby Trail horses expected to contest the Southwest-Rebel-AK Derby series on their way to Louisville. I don't play OP on a regular basis, but it's a fun oval famous for frenetic mulri-horse finishes and big mutuels thanks to a quirky short stretch.

SELECTIONS -- Oaklawn Park, 1/19 (R5-9)

POST SCRATCHES.. REVISED P4.. (12:30pm)..

Did you mean the 3, 4, 6 in the sixth and the 1,3, 5, 6, 10, 12 in the 8th? Or did you leave out your top picks?

My fault.. Sorry.. Had no #'s off the early edition and botched it.. Thought I had them all corrected. You've got to look at the names and comments too.. Will hopefully make it up to you in the 8th/9th..!

PP,

.. Wasn't it last week where someone noticed a P4 ticket I had was a winner at Santa Anita..

The #7 blew out the P4 anyway, so I sort of feel BETTER!

I think so. I felt like King Midas until I noticed the pick 3 tickets were SA. But that's in the past, we've got the real ticket. Let's bring it home, Steve.

This is sad and thoroughly embarassing.. The 7 in the P4 was a mistake too.. Just noticed. Was meant to be the 6 First Regent.. Very bad. You would have really had to somehow backed into being alive with this today..

Sorry everybody..

Strangest thing hitting this. I actually handicapped the 6th race and bet the 2 across the board.

Lucky for me I didn't handicap the rest and look over Steve's ticket and caught that mistake.

Pants..

You really caught this? Because the way you describe it, is the only way to have done it... ($950.00+??)

If you read names you would have corrected the first leg error but then would have been beaten correctging the mistake with the 6/7 in the feature...

At least those that bet the P3 blind, like Gil, hit...
