7/16: Saratoga steeplechase race 1 Kiser Novice Stakes

Saratoga steeplechase kicks off with the Kiser Novice stakes at 2 ⅜ miles around 5 turns over 9 jumps and the favorites will be very hard to beat.

#8 China Beach is on a 3 race win streak for Kate and Bernie Dalton highlighted by novice stakes wins at their home base in Camden and Nashville. The one to beat.

#9 Blue Creek for trainer Kerri Brion ran 2nd to #8 China Beach at Nashville and gets another pound off in weight against China Beach. #9 Blue Creek is stakes placed on the flat, has never used Lasix and has nice late closing speed.

#1 Evie’s Prince just missed in the Steinman running second and won at Saratoga at the same distance last year. However, #1 Evie’s Prince finished behind #8 China Beach and #9 Blue Creek this year.

#7 L’Avvocato ran well at Nashville but lost to #9 Blue Creek at Aiken and can run underneath in trifectas and superfectas.

#3 Caramelised and #2 Beat Le Bon will set a quick early pace but have distance limitations and will fade on the backstretch before the final jump.
