Default Marquette-Duke

Too early for me to even begin to follow College basketball in earnest, but never too early for a loss by the Pukies to bring a smile to my face.
Way to go Marquette.

I never had a problem with them and their fans until the biggest fixed game in history. The Maryland-Duke final four game where the referees overcame a 20 point deficit to get Duke to the title game with Arizona(who won another sickeningly reffed game to get there) to set up what the NCAA needed, the highest rated possible game in a year where the tv contratc was up for grabs.
If I watch sports another 30 plus years I won't ever see an injustice like that one.
After the game was over even Dickie V, the biggest College Bball analyst and Duke shill alive said it was embarassing and the biggest disgrace he ever saw.
Yet the Duke fans I talked to smugly declared that they didn't see any bad calls, and that they were just the best. Well they won that year, and karma provided Maryland with the title they deserved the next year, and goose eggs for Duke since.
I can honestly say that I hope they never win another title again.

The Christian Laettner stomp did it for me in 1992. How he and Duke got away with it is beyond me, and this coming from an IU fan.

Just wait until tomorrow when you see one of your final four teams playing at 11am CST on ESPN2.....Hint: it isn't Arkansas

I'm remember that game and the refs wanted the Blue Devils to win
that game so bad. These refs are afraid of Coach K. They always
give Duke little more leeway on how they officiate the game. Last
year when ESPN did the Full Circle coverage of UNC-Duke game,
the commentator making remarks on how fouls calls against the
Tar Heels were being whistled for and the same fouls Duke were
commiting were not being called.

You mention Arizona another team I can't stand. Every year in the
preseason polls their highly ranked. They loose early in the season
but still have decent record because they play in horrible Pac 10.

Scav,

Good luck to your Salukis tommorow against Arkansas, This is their first real challenge. Hopefully they can beat up on this SEC team. Watch their game against the Racers. Tatum is nice player for them. If So. Illinois can beat Arkansas maybe than can crack the top 25 being 3 places from it.

Saucon my friend, it isn't IF we beat Arkansas, it is how bad we are going to beat them. Tatum is outstanding when he isn't punching out windows at the police station. This is the first year where we actually have some height to actually rebound, our schedule is pretty strong also as we also have Indiana coming to SIU (what a great agreement, Indiana football wanted to play us and we said "Fine, you want to play us then we get a home and home for basketball" and then SIU goes to Indiana and BEATS them at football)

Can't wait to see what this line is.....

Scav,
Tough lost my friend in OT, caught the second half after attending high
school football game. Salukis had bad day shooting only about 36% from
the field. Tatum had a chance put the game away with less than
10 second but only made 1-2 from foul line. It's hard to win OT when you only take three shots in the extra period and the razorbacks were money
from the foul line. Hopefully than can build of this lost.

Everybody may hate Duke but them only being -5- against Air Force was as easy as a college BBall can get. It was like one of Dixies lines except it was real.

THEY PLAYED like utter crap, really PISSEd me off because that was a great opportunity to beat a named program, even though a down program. All these mid majors bitch about not getting games and when they do get them, they need to capitalize. Look at Missouri State, formerly known as Southwest Missouri State, they were up like 20 on Wisconsin today and held on to win by 2. We smoked Minnesota today but they suck, hopefully they beat Ohio State once so that can help our RPI.

If we shoot like we shoot today, we will be fine, but teams that play decent D on us and we will have some issues I think. On a better note, last year we played in that Alaska tourney and GOT SMOKED by a D2 team first out, so all is not lost. We are better then last year, that I am sure of
