![]() Dear Plenilune: after JB snapped me out a coma on the scoring for points, please ignore all the crazy talk below. Thank you, luv you too!!!
Dead heat 3/5-7-4 order of finish, not sure if I have ever this to score. The following seems appropriate to me. Anybody else have remember how this was done before or perhaps a better way. So the 3 and/or the 5 are first for 10 points the 7 is second and the 4 is third Those with the winning dead heat pick get hurt a little. Here's my logic which is not always that logical. 3/5-7-4 is ABC = 35 pts A B C 3/5-4-7 is ACB = 30pts 3/5-7-X is ABX - 25pts 3/5-4-no place is ACX = 15pts 3/5-no place -7 is AXB or AXC = 12pts 3/5-no place-no place is AXX = 10 Same logic goes for CAB, BAC, BCA or CBA are all 20 pts Good luck Plen. You may have this already figured out. If so, please forget all of the above and we'll accept it what ever you have.

![]() I don't think that is how Plen has scored dead heats in the past. If you were betting you would have the winner with either 3 or 5. The 7 would be third. The exacta would be either 3/5 or 5/3. The tri would either be 3/5/7 or 5/3/7. The 4 would not enter into any of those payouts. After all it was 4th, not 3rd. Our scoring has been consistent with this approach. I think that Plen looks at both 3/5/7 and 5/3/7 and awards each player the higher of their two potential scores. That's my recollection anyway. Now need to watch the walkover.
edit - I think your approach penalizes the person who had both of the dead heat winners in their tri and rewards the person who picked in their tri a horse who did not hit the board. That doesn't refelct what would happen it one were betting. |

![]() I guess I'll have to wait and see how RQ treats the dead heat. I actually have the $2 3/8 double 5 times and the $2 5/8 double 3 times. The 3/8 double is $52.80 for $2 and the 5/8 is $125.20 for $2. Whatever the answer is, it was a fun day. Now on to the Preakness. Considering the blanket finish, you would think there would be plenty of challengers for the 2nd leg of the TC.
