I remember one time at Fort Erie, there was a horse named Ben Pipo, who was winning the race, and then dropped dead literally yards from the finish line. The rider got thrown over the line, and he slid over the line with out the rider. He was DQ’d because the rider didn’t complete the course.

I remember that race. Wasn't he a Frank Passero bottom dropper, in the early double?

Don't remember who the trainer was, but I remember the incident like it was yesterday, and it must have occurred some 25+ years ago. It was on a Saturday or Sunday.
