I don't like the word "Happy" associated with Memorial Day. I will just say "Be Thankful and remember"

Yeah, me too. Seems not to be a time for the word happy, but i still get why people use it.

Veterans day was once armistice day...memorial day, however, was borne of the civil war.

Default Memorial Day

We love and salute our brave troops, and we thank them for protecting our freedom. GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS AND THEIR FAMILIES, AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!

I hope everyone is able to have a safe Memorial Day and maybe spend some time with those close to you.

I have the utmost gratitude and respect for all the men, women, and animals that have served our country and especially to those that gave the ultimate sacrifice. I salute you.......

Been 70 years since we had soldiers die protecting our freedom. Thank you. Let today be shame for those sending our youth to die in order to pad the pocketbooks of the 1%. Let us not lose sight of that and be brainwashed by those waving the flag under the guise of freedom vs profits.

Got this from a friend...

This guy Ed Wendell from my old neighborhood Woodhaven in Queens is a local historian.

He dug up all this forgotten info about these trees in the local park. You know they just didn't grow by themselves in a line following the road through the park. So he dug up old newspaper clippings and found they were planted as a remembrance of the local fellows who were killed in WWI. They were completely forgotten, and if not for his work, would have stayed that way until someone took them down for one reason or another.

Well said. I tell my husband our 'leaders' should appreciate their soldiers and sailors more, and quit wasting them...asking them to give all, for so little. It angers me to see good people wasted as tho they're toys to be played with and smashed at a whim.

Glad he looked into that. Sad, even our doughboys had to fight for what was promised them for serving after the war. All those promises forgotten when they were no longer needed and the Germans blamed for all....and ground work laid for '39.
