Default Perfect Drift

With all the attention on how much of a difference it would've made if Premium Tap, it completely overshadows the trouble the Perfect Drift had in this race. This Race was identical to last year's BC Classic for Perfect Drift.

He looked full of run at the top of the stretch, and was blocked repeatedly. Leparoux tried to take him to the outside, and he was blocked. Then he swerved Drift in, and was blocked, and so Leparoux decided to finally split horses when a hole finally opened mid stretch, AND HE PLOWED THROUGH WITH A BIG RUN. By then it was too late.

It seems like Perfect Drift always finds a way to get in trouble or come up just short. But he had as many excuses as Premuin Tap today. But I don't think necessarily Preimum Tap wins that race if 'Tap doesn't check. Because if Perfect Drift could have gotten a clean ride as well, those two easily finish 1-2 in the race.

He'll no doubt be 4th or 5th in the big one again.

Gander,
I think they should've kep Guirdy on him. I love Guidry. But this wasn't anything Leparoux did or didn't do. P. Drift ran into a wall. Seriously it was eerie how much his trip was like his BC Classic Trip last year.

A show bet on 'Drift in the BC Classic- maybe the safest bet in the whole thing lol.

I don't get it either. He is an average rider at best. He is a 23yo bug boy witch makes him a bug man and i think he is older than Bejorano. So i don't know i guess its the fact that he got 7 more years experiance before he became an apprentice.

We'll see how human Leparoux is when he loses his bug... I agree- He's nothin specil. But I like him better than some of the other big names out there. He's a mid-pack guy. A Cornholio Velasquez type lol.

I wouldn't throw out the win bet on Drifty. He definately has a lot left in the tank after today. Today was more like a workout. I really liked this as a prep for him.

Gotta go help a friend. Chat at you guys later!

P D is money machine. Dances eery dance and is always a threat. Just call him Mr congeniality of horseracing. He will never wear the crown but will be able to buy anything he wants.

I would love to own that horse. They need to find a track that has the finish line on the turn.

My sentiments exactly. Being there today live -- like I was when PD won 3 years ago -- the horse looks ageless. He could very well win at CD. He was striding out at the wire after running into a wall. He had a lot of run left. It was a solid race, good fractions, good final time on the poly.

PD looked amazing today, just like at CD in the Foster - I was there for both, and both times he came barelling down the stretch with a great stride. Last time he hung when he got the lead, this time he couldn't make up the ground. But both times he kicked impressively and looked like the winner in the stretch. I cheer for him out of shock as if he's the winner. Hope he finishes top-3 in the Classic, I would love to see him keep in "his" top form...

U wouldn't toss him from the win end? A horse that has won exactly ONE grade one race in six years of racing? A horse that finds a way to lose every single time it appears that he's going to win? Not knocking the horse as a hard trier and a very consistent type but let's be real here. In the past three years, he's won TWO races, an allowance and the grade two Washington Park Hcp. Include him in all the exactas and tris that u want to but putting him in the win spot is throwing away money. I don't care how much trouble he had (doesn't he always have an excuse?), u have to be able to beat Ball Four if u expect that u are going to be able to beat the real heavyweights in the game. Especially considering that it was Ball Four's first race in five months and he was winning his first career graded stakes race.

KG -

There is a massive disconnect around here concerning Perfect Drift and his actual ability. When he runs sixth in the BC Classic he will be hailed as an uncrowned champion.

It's like that on every forum. I mean, I understand that they love the horse. Hell, I've grown to respect him myself as a horse that has to be considered in any exotic wager. But I always save myself a little money by never including him in the win spot. I think people have gotten so familiar with him because he's been around so long that they forget the reality of the horse.....he doesn't like to win.

He's an excellent and admirable horse but he isn't nearly good enough to beat top horses anymore...period. He's still good enough to pick up the pieces against decent horses but when thrown to the wolves in five weeks he will get his head handed to him.

what is so ironic to me.....invasor gets questioned on who's he beat, as does lava man, and even bernardini.....2 losses the entire Year between the three of them--yet constantly, who'd they beat, who'd they beat. like a damn parrot squawking or something.
than you have perfect drift....he gets anointed as some kind of spectacular noble creature--hell, who has HE beaten? nobody. it's crazy. winners all over, and so many are killing themselves trying to outdo others with their praise for this sainted horse.

gah....

and now i'll probably get leaped on for not praising this super horse. whatever...he's a good horse. but please gimme a break.

well he did beat mineshaft. that was a pretty good horse. listen i don't think most of us think that pd is going to win the classic, and i dont believe that a lot of people on here think he is "spectacular". personally i admire the horse for being so damn competitive at the top level of the sport for as long as he has, and i wouldn't be shocked if he ran up for the show spot in the classic. personally i dont see anything wrong with admiring a horse that has earned as much $$ over the years as this guy.

i was thinking about this year, but thanks....

all i'm saying is there is something wrong with people bashing winners, esp lava man, and then canonizing losers. it makes no sense.
