Haven't seen much mention of this anywhere. I always liked this horse.

From Dec. 16, 2010, through April 2, 2011, Inherit the Gold won five consecutive races, capped off by a victory in the Grade 3 Excelsior at Aqueduct. He was owned by his breeders, Jim and Susanne Hooper, Edmond and Mary Murray, and Alan Zura.

The horse will reside at the Hooper’s Haven Oaks farm in Fort Edward, N.Y., approximately 15 minutes from Saratoga.

The Hoopers hope to begin the Inherit the Gold Foundation. They want to house and re-train retired Thoroughbreds for a second career.

That Gold Token, his sire, was a heckuva sire. The 6 year old ran 24 times and you can say what you want about pedigrees but the real good ones run hard and are therefore more susceptible to injury. Enjoy your retirement fella knowing you helped your friends on the track.

Retirement of Inherit the Gold in dispute

A dispute between the owners of Inherit the Gold could alter plans for the recently retired New York-bred gelding, including a possible return to the races.

Really, he's done enough!
