Default Will the real owner of Maritimer please stand up?

Right. Til someone admits to being the new owner of that horse, I won't be able to avoid thinking that the Chechen president could be trying to use an intermediary or something. Wouldn't put it past him to try that, if not now, then in the future. Get some monkey without war crimes on their record so they can pull off a KY license. You know they won't wanna give one to Kadyrov.

Fingers crossed it's just some temporarily shy rich person.

Maybe it is the same owner of the $14.3 million winning lottery ticket in Iowa who refuses to identify him/herself and is forfeiting the winnings rather than revealing their identity.

Might be a good option though if the alternative to not claiming the money is going to jail for theft, fraud, or a number of other things. The guy that says he has the ticket sounds pretty sketchy. Not taking the cash might be a real life Get Out of Jail Free card.

Sounds plausible, especially since the article identifies Seth Benzel as the trainer. He trained Sweet Ducky this fall - when he was allowed to run.

I can confirm with 100% certainty the horse is not with Seth Benzel, he is definitely in Dubai with Herman Brown, who trains other horses for Kadryov, including Gitano Hernando.
