![]() Debate has started on Boehner's bill. Questions remain as to if he can even get enough votes within his own caucus to pass it. Doubtful.
If he does pass it, Reid said the Senate will vote it down late tonight. Boehner knows the Senate will not vote in favor of it (they sent him a letter yesterday as he insisted upon pursuing it), and the President said he would veto it. Thanks, Speaker, for being held hostage by the loons in your party. And saying today that you have no control over if our credit rating is downgraded. http://thehill.com/homenews/house/17...short-on-votes

![]() Well, you can watch this whole debacle on CSpan. http://www.cspan.org/Events/House-Ex...10737423142-7/ Love how they schedule this crap for after the US markets close.
And if you're trying to follow along, they are now passing bills naming Post Offices while Boehner tries to round up votes for a bill that won't pass the Senate. Because that's what's most important right now. Quote:

![]() It's not even close to responsible and shouldn't be passed by the house. New bill sent to Obama and the Senate should simply state GFY! Let the Ponzi cards fall. Better now than later.

The House loons control 47 votes of the Republican caucus. Boehner can't even get to 217 within his own overwhelming majority. The House loons have already torpedoed two previous tentative agreements last week. They are nihilists (although I think 3 have "changed sides" today, citing "being told the facts" - where have they been this past week?). Michelle Bachmann again today said she'll never vote for a debt ceiling increase, saying it's all a lie that we'll be in trouble and not be able to pay our debts. This is what democracy looks like sometimes.

![]() And ... it's postponed, House in recess. They may still vote tonight. Boehner is meeting with members individually (begging).
Begging try and get them to vote for a bill that won't pass the Senate and that the President will veto. This is a huge waste of our time and money. This incompetence is so angering. Just take a damn clean debt ceiling vote, like you guys have the previous 79 times, then spend all the time you want on cuts to spending and revenue deals. After all, there is a new budget coming up. Military salaries are untouchable. Government contractors that have completed work and or delivered goods should be paid. Government employees could be reduced by 50% easy including congressional staffing! Privatize any necessary jobs and say goodbye to pension and healthcare obligations. Those that remain should have pay frozen and like most of the private world, contribute to their pension and healthcare accounts. Medicare can be reduced by 10% (fraud) and Medicaid patients should check into the local county hospital as the country no longer is in the position to finance their private care. In addition we need to stop supporting/subsidizing Fannie and Freddie and like I said before seperate completely from the USPO. All hi-speed train fund giveaways need to be returned. What's sad is how much money was wasted already and can't be retrieved. (My town purchased a high tech golf cart for parking control under the guise of homeland security LOL) GM and all of the banks need to repay ALL the money loaned plus interest or face fines starting now. Egypt, Pakistan etc etc should be cutoff completely and be on the hook for any money owed not have debts forgiven. ![]() Ultimately once the above is done, taxes on (EVERYONE) can be raised provided that those new taxes are used exclusively to pay down the debt and obviously cut interest payments. No one should pay no taxes while others pay over a 1/3 of their income. We have lived it up long enough. Tough times are ahead but think of what bond rating we'd get if instead of passing a new debt ceiling we actually started paying down the debt! |

We have to, by law, stated in the Constitution, pay the bills we've already incurred. The debt ceiling is just cash flow to do that. Has zero to do with future spending. We need a single sentence raise the debt ceiling bill, then the Congress can go crazy creating committees to decrease our spending and increase our revenues. None of that has anything to do with raising the debt ceiling.

![]() @LukeRussert: Update: House #GOP floor Whip team says final vote on #Boehner #debt bill now between 5:45-6:15pm.
Edit: they are voting right now, 6:10 eastern live coverage: http://www.cspan.org/Events/House-to...10737423174-2/ Edit: Boehner bill passes with one extra vote 218. No Democratic votes, 10 abstaining. Now it goes to the Senate tonight to die** Thanks for 2 days of wasting our time, House Republicans, now can we just raise the debt ceiling with a simple one-sentence bill, and then work on jobs and the economy? ** Actually McConnell and Reid are working on compromise bill to try and pass tonight.
