Default Cathy Roby - KHP/Hall of Champions

Cathy Roby, who has worked with some of the best horses in the world in Kentucky Horse Park's Hall of Champions and is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, suffered a massive stroke last night. She is in intensive care at St. Joseph Hosipital here in Lexington. Cathy has been a fixture at the Hall of Champions for many years and is an active member of Southland Christian Church, so please spread the word to anyone who may know her.

Although totally paralyzed last night, she is experiencing some movement in her hands and feet today.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Cathy. You're one of the best.

Yes, sadly, RIP, Cathy.

She died peacefully last night with her family surrounding her.

I can't imagine the Hall of Champions without Cathy being there.

I didn't know her personally, but have photos somewhere of her and John Henry from one of our visits to KHP. I remember her telling us to stand aside and give JH room as they passed, reminding us that despite his age he could be a handfull. This was written around that time:

It would be nice to hear Steve & Steve talk about her today.

I am sending prayers for her and her family.

She was a kind woman who took her job seriously and with great enthusiasm. The people and horses who came into contact with her were very fortunate.

Default Cathy with Bold Forbes 1996 & 1998

As I was going through my files I found these two (of dozens more) of Cathy with Bold Forbes. Cathy was kind enough to let me spend countless hours photographing Bo and she gave me his halter and personally called me the day they put him down. She was truly a class act and will be missed.

Those are great photos. Thinking to myself how photos such as these help family members to reflect on happy times when a loved one passes. Seeing the one you are mourning with such a smile on her face, obviously loving what she is doing, helps I think. I hope that her family has a lot of these kinds of photos.
