Default Re-Run Moneighs

I forgot about the auction ending and missed out on getting one.
(The price was more than I was willing to pay)
Anyone here ever buy a re-run Moneigh?

Thebby has one I believe and Joe the Dude bought a Hook and Ladder as a gift for me and I love it. They're great. Barbara Neal was on ATR with me Friday to remind people of the end of this edition. They are typically twice a year, but Barbara said there is another special auction in January.

I've been outbid (hey, gotta try), but I have friends who have one. Remember it's for charity, so people will pay generously. The less famous horses end up available and affordable (I have another friend who has one up on his wall at work, I can't even remember the horses name, and he's never been a fan of racing)

Just thinking that if you really want one by a particular horse, it might be an idea to solicit your friends to give you donations to Re-Run so you can pool them?

You can often get tail hair and shoes from a barn, if you schmooze the appropriate people while there (if we can ever replicate horses from tail hair DNA, I've got a killer racing stable )

Just received a very nice Email from ReRun thanking ATR listeners/Derby Trailers as they raised $14k on this go-round and got a nice boost of bids Friday after Barbara appeared on the show. Proud to say that Congaree soared after being particularly lauded, ending as the 5th highest priced work at $870.

TOP SELLERS

Smarty Jones $3,141
Big Brown $1,375
Curlin $1,000
Cigar $930
Congaree $870
Funny Cide $660
A.P. Indy $660
Point Given $590
Giacomo $510

They will have a special Eclipse award auction Jan 13-17 with Zenyatta and Horse of the Year award winners A.P. Indy, Curlin, Black Tie Affair, Point Given, Mineshaft and Tiznow. They also expect get Invasor and Holy Bull.

I was involved with the Congaree bidding early on though once the price topped $375 I became a spectator. Have had luck in prior Moneigh auctions as I have a Distorted Humor and Lido Palace. Love them.

Congaree was the one I was after and I meant to try bidding late.

I have an Evening Attire moneigh, but for some reason I've been real slow in getting it out of the box and up on the wall.

Wasn't Curlin 2007/08 and Rachel 2009. Indian Blessing was 2007 Juvy Filly?

according to wikipedia:

Eclipse Awards
On Jan 26th, 2009, Curlin won the Eclipse Award for older male horse of the year and for the second year in a row was named Horse of the Year. Curlin joined Secretariat, Forego, Affirmed and Cigar as the only horses to win the award more than once since the Eclipse Award began in 1971

the awards were handed out in 2008 and 2009

I wasn't able to find this exact passage on Wikipedia, but if it's out there, it appears that the person who wrote it is a little confused about the year the statue is awarded vs the year that it's awarded for. Also, it's apparent that the writer scanned the HOTY table and determined that the only horses to win the award twice did it back-to-back, thereby excluding John Henry.....a pretty good horse that won his 2 HOTY titles in non-consecutive years.

Wikipedia's great, but it's not Britannica, and it's certainly not the American Racing Manual.

That is correct, for the 2007 and 2008 year's awards.
