Default 60 Minutes Overtime

Here's a LINK to the backstory behind tonight's 60 Minutes story on Zenyatta. The Zenyatta lovers will enjoy this, those that dislike her connectionS and fans can scoff, but it looks like there are now two more non-horse racing fans who have been enchanted by the Queen

Can we blame Michelle Boniface for the historical perspective that led to the "greatest filly of all time" designation? Or did the CBS producers opt for that?

We need a drinking game. Every time they call her the greatest (including ads for the show) do a shot. When they show footage of her dancing, drink. When someone goes to snuggle with Zenyatta or kisses her on the nose, keep drinking til they stop. If anybody implies or expressly states she might be greater than Secretariat, drink everything you've got.

I want to watch and enjoy Zenyatta, but I'm concerned about the risk of diabetic coma. Might need to tape it, then watch after the Classic. If she wins, it makes the piece feel less saccharine. If she loses, it's bittersweet but still great that racing got the press.

19 for 19 is a pretty great feat obviously.....But why is it that you never hear about the time of the races that she ran ? Does time only count when your in jail ? Or is it people just have no clue that she for the most part beat slugs just about every race she ran in.
I am kind of puzzled as to why none of the people that do storys about her, never mention this.
To be mentioned in the same breath as Secretariat is pretty F up. It certainly makes me want to root against her next week......

If Mike Smith says that she is the greatest he ever rode, Holy Bull should be allowed to kick him in the head.

Why? What would that do? That would be like kicking a broken clock that's missing it's internal mechanisms and expecting it to work.

If Mike Smith says Zen is the greatest horse of all time, that makes HIM the jockey that rode the good majority of the races won by the "greatest horse of all time". It would be cool beans to be known as the jockey who rode the greatest horse of all time.

When Mikey gets tired of riding, politics might work well for him.

Yes. This is a very important point to focus on while this man trained Zenyatta for the 2009 and now, the 2010 Classic, under everyone's noses.

It was a 14 minute segment sir. If your teeth look like the color of baked beans, you need to put forth an effort. I'm keeping it real.

Better than Secretariat? He didn't REALLY say yes, but close.

I thought it was a rather superficial look at Zenyatta. Everyone they interviewed tried to articulate how amazing Zenyatta is in person but it came across as goofy. You have to experience her in person, she has a presence that can not truly be described. From my experience I have found her to be curious, intelligent, completely aware of her surroundings and amazingly gentle for such a large animal.

Comparing her to Secretariat is not fair, saying she is the greatest thoroughbred of all time is not fair, but saying she is one of the best mares to race and entertain racing fans in recent memory is reasonable in my opinion.

I do think Mike Smith was right about one thing - I think she does have at least one more gear that we haven't seen yet. I think she does enough to win and will do just enough to win on Saturday.
