Great pics as always. I'm not one to make excuses for Stardom Bound but that looks painful.

the top two pics are amazing, and show two sides to that filly. in the top, she looks docile as can be, out for a stroll. in the next she looks ready and willing to kick butt and take names.

and yeah joey, that does look painful.

I thought Mike Smith's comment about Stardom Bound's performance was rich:

"I tried to get her to settle,” said Stardom Bound’s regular rider, Mike Smith, who flew in from California for the mount. “If I had let her go on, she probably would have gotten second, but it would have been very grueling for her coming off the layoff. She’ll improve from this race.”

If he had allowed her to make the middle move that he held her back from she would have run 2nd?

As per IEAH, she had no excuse. When Smith put her in the clear on the backside, she started to run. When he tucked her back in she flattened out and did not like dirt hitting her.

Next stop the El Encino at Santa Anita.

Very nice pics. Stardom Bound is just a stunning-looking horse.

I heard what he had said, and he was misquoted. He said he could have gone from last to second on the backstretch, but that would have been asking too much of her coming off the layoff.

Your work is awesome. I was fortunate enough to be at Aqueduct with my Camera on Saturday as well. Here is one of my favorite photos from the Gazelle.

Excellent shot. She's coiled and ready to stretch out for the drive.

I give credit when credit is deserved and Smith really rode a superb race in the Classic, however the fact that Zenyatta has remained unbeaten with him as her regular rider really boggles my mind if one really thinks about that feat.
