I said he'd either be retired (cause the owner couldn't care less) or go to Hong Kong. I guess it was the former.

The usual crap:

"We feel it is unfair to keep him going any further given his unprecedented record of achievement in the last six months."

Yes, the poor horse would have probably lodged an official protest had they tried to keep him going any longer.

What a crushing blow to this year's BC Classic. I think they should cancel the race.

Not unexpected, I would hope that some of the others from the Arc field will try the BC instead. Ie. Vision D'tat, Cavalryman, Fame And Glory....besides the by now well known Conduit.

On Sunday, the Zenyatta connections were talking about the possibility of her running in the Classic. They said it depends on who's coming and the size of the field. On Tuesday, with the announcement that Sea the Stars is retired so not coming, they say that it's all up to how she's doing and him not coming has no bearing on their decision. My question is if his participation wasn't what they were referring to when they said it would depend on who's coming, who is it they are concerned with?

I highly doubt the connections of Zenyatta ever even bothered to watch a single race of Sea the Stars, so I tend to believe them when they said Zenyatta going or not going didnt depend on Sea the Stars. As if Sea the Stars was ever going to come here and run in the BC. I didnt believe it for a second. Nor do I believe that Zenyatta's connections are even considering the Classic over the "easy race." Believe about 10% what you read on drf. The rest is just marketing.
