![]() I read your great 1st half highlights entry and some thoughts...
As far as Artie Schiller goes, a fella who involved with the connections of Artie posted this just a few days after Artie lost horribly at 1/2 odds.... Sunday may have been Artie Schiller's last race. He is just not right. He came out of the race sore, and there was talk about a possible suspensory problem. And as far as the biggest disappointment of the meet, I'd say easily Flower Alley was. We have been looking forward to seeing the horse that was supposed to be #1 in the handicap division run in the Whitney since winter. He romps against Guns n Roses at Monmouth and flops in the Whitney in a terrible effort. While he may not have been 1/5, he was the biggest name in the race and failed like a frat kid with a bad hangover. Good stuff. I agree about Bernardini. Glad you bailed out. On an ironic note, the horse Prideland (who beat you out of a pick 6 score), is trained and owned by the same people involved with Gander ![]() Keep up the writing and get set for what should be a great 2nd half of the meet. |

![]() Ateam for you daily diary entries.
It was great to meet the Derby Trail folks when i was there over Whitney weekend. I do read your daily entries with anticipation as i am so far removed from Saratoga by distance. Have to agree that the biggest disappointment was the non-effort by Flower Alley. PSH

![]() Yeah, I realized after I wrote it that Flower Alley was a major disappointment as well.. I also reconsidered and would give Corny the rider title for the first half. Glad you guys liked it and any critiques are welcome.
