Default Penn National racing sec.

This guy got a little creative with the most recent book he put out.

Here are a couple of races he wrote for next Saturday (July 11th)

* Name Your Own Claiming Price
PURSE $40,000. FOR THREE YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD.
Three Year Olds 116 lbs. Older 120 lbs.
CLAIMING PRICE $4,000, For Each $2,000 Higher In Claiming Price An Additional 2 lbs.
(Preference to horses with the most starts at Penn National in the last Twelve months.)
ONE MILE AND ONE HALF

This following one takes the cake though ....

* PURSE $30,000. FOR THREE YEAR OLDS AND UPWARD FOR TRAINERS THAT HAVE NOT WON A
RACE IN 2009.
Three Year Olds 117 lbs. Older 122 lbs.
Non-winners Of Two Races Since June 11 3 lbs.
A race since then 6 lbs.
CLAIMING PRICE $5,000
(Races where entered for $4,000 or less not considered)
(Horse must have been in Trainers name since May 11, 2009)
SIX FURLONGS

Will that second really fill? I'd like to see someone enter the first one and carry 140.

is this really true??? I dont care about the names of the races but they are funny... but is this really true?? 40K purses for 4k claiming price? I'm opening up a breeding business in PA... starting tomorrow. Penn national claimers are running for 40k... unbelievable.

The first one might even be less likely to fill because of the 12 furlong distance and because of the following Penn trainers 2009 records.

Charles A. DeMario 0 for 51
Linda M. Clement 0 for 50
John J. Jacavone 0 for 62
George R. Albright 0 for 35
Frank Cifarelli 0 for 42
Robert Kotenko 0 for 49

Nice catch. Be sure to post the entries if they fill. I'm sure they both will, who wouldn't enter a nickel-type distance horse for $40k?!?

The 12 furlong name your own claiming price race got 18 horses ... the claiming prices ranging from $4,000 to $20,000 .. thus the horse in for 20K must carry 136lbs .. and give 16lbs away to the six horses in for 4K.

All 10 races on Saturday's card got 12 horse fields ... 8 of the 10 races drew 17 or more horses.

a couple 50K MSW races, a couple 60K N1X alw races, and a 10K starter alw races with a 50K purse as well.

Sounds like a decent night. That is along as they can make races official within an hour of the finish.
