Tuesday on 'At the Races', Andy Beyer at 4:15. He will be elaborating on the changes to the Figures for synthetic surfaces. Andy will talk about the impetus for the change and methodology involved and take listeners respectful and intelligent calls...

This is a bad idea.....

You shouldn't "tweak" figures to make them look closer to dirt, when the surface isn't dirt!!! This is a 3rd surface. Can't people just accept the figures are different?

As soon as I heard about this I began waiting with baited breath for the inane comments I would read on the internet concerning this.

The keep-them-in-the-game hall of fame: Beyer for speed and CJ for pace/speed.

It's not immodesty if you're delusional.

Honestly I thought this was due, but I have mixed feelings since I drew my own conclusions with the synth numbers. This in my opinion gives the novice speed handicapper an easy way out, whereas for myself and others that take the time to watch video and make educated guesses, harder to gain an advantage, I don't know if that makes sense but the best illustration is I thought The Pampelmousse's number was low to begin with and now the rest of the world knows...and seemingly agrees.

Does a poly number mean anything if track temp is not part of the equation?
