![]() That's too bad.
I was hoping Ashkal Way would win, but alas..... it wasn't to be. I do hope Artie is okay. I've had a love/hate thing with him..... Spent all last year rolling my eyes, insisting he was overated but when i saw him in person? Took my breath away. "Who's that?" All my friends laughed. They knew what I thought of him. When they answered it was Artie, i didn't believe it at first. |

![]() Rupert I said the exact same thing as you on teh far turn when Gomez went all in on him and he had nothing. I said he will be retired today. I hope they do, I hate to see a good horse run when hes not doing well.

![]() It was truly devestating watching this race from the seats yesterday. Always been a favorite of mine and even my wife came over just to watch Artie, obviously very disappointing. Sad way to see him end what has been a great ride. He will always have a BC win on his resume. Not sure why people continue to diss him. Sure hes been a beaten favorite on many occasions but its not his fault the public (including me) goes overboard for him.
I wont remember that race from yesterday, I will remember that BC Mile victory. |

![]() Remember what you want about him but he is a valid BC winner and may have been the year before too if Migliore wasnt riding him with a broken arm.

![]() Something had to be very wrong with Artie yesterday. Gomez said he had a perfect trip and was just empty at the quarter pole. I have never seen Artie empty at the quarter pole in any of his races. Hes lost a lot of tough ones, but hes always been very competitive, even in defeats.
Why he was that far back off slow fractions like that makes me wonder too. He has the speed to have led yesterday, instead of loping a few lengths behind a horse who has proven to be "remarkably" game when allowed to set easy fractions. |

Artie Schiller has always been a talented horse who ran some HUGE races. He may have lacked a little in consistency, but when it was his day, boy could he be special. If he is indeed done, I'm sure he will make a fine sire someplace and at age 5, hes raced in 4 different campaigns and has earned the fine life he will get. |

![]() I didnt bash Flower Alley on Saturday. Obviously he was short, Pletcher said he wasnt 100%. But also something must have went wrong there too, as he had a nice trip but when asked for run he had nothing. Kind of a similar race to Artie in a lot of respects. So yes, I remembered and wasnt one of the guys on here who rushed to bash this horse.

![]() In all honesty, even if Artie was 100%, Remarkable News would have been very tough to reel in, given the fact he was allowed to set those ridiculously slow fractions for a horse of his caliber.
Not sure if Artie's problems were the reason Garret took back early off slow fractions, or was that his planned strategy. If it was his strategy I think he misjudged the race. Remarkable News still would have won in my opinion. |

![]() Well let us know if you hear something Mike. That performance was equally disappointing to watch. Still hoping for a great BC Classic between Flower Alley, Lava Man and Bernardini. Heck, possibly BG Cat!
One can dream cant they? |

![]() Excerpt from the bloodhorse online--The official statement I guess
Trainer Todd Pletcher said Flower Alley, the Whitney favorite who faded to seventh, obviously needed the race. "I was concerned that with only one race under his belt this year he might not be in peak form," Pletcher said. "I would have liked to see him finish up a little better than he did. I know he's a lot better than that, so we'll just regroup and point for the Woodward." Pletcher said he was pleased by the third-place effort turned in by West Virginia. Both horses came out of the Whitney well, he said.
