Default The Belmont train finally axed

I know it's been in the pipeline for a couple of Months-but the Belmont train finally got the can when the MTA cuts were announced this week. So it's the Bus from Jamaica or the train to Bellerose and then walk or Queens Village and then a bus. Any other ways by public transport?

Surely Monmouth Park and Atlantic City are the winners here. Direct train still goes to Monmouth and I know that a new Weekend service from Penn Station to Atlantic City started in February-first one in years I think?

This is not a sure thing yet. The New York government has a fine track record of taking way too much time to decide on anything financial and this situation is no different, once these morons in Albany get a plan together to help the MTA, there is a good chance these cuts will be reversed. One of these days I hope we can get someone competent to run our government here.

I'm sure the daily commuters, facing increased fares and service cutbacks, will stop their fight and focus exclusively on getting the Belmont train back and running.

I'm certainly going to get in touch with my state and local representatives. Who gives a **** that tolls and fares are through the roof, give me the BEL train and I, along with the other 50 or so riders, will be happy.

Traffic sucks as it is out there. It would be a nightmare for The Belmont Stakes.Maybe Andy will let us camp out at his mansion.

Traffic can be a mess to deal with even in the lesser days at Belmont.Especially by the end of the day or if the Mets are in town.
