As a horseplayer, any time SA can put 12 horses in the gate, for any race, it is a good thing.

If I was thinking the older division was suspect, I might give a long look at the Euro entrant, Dansant, whose trainer says is the best poly track horse in England

What would the line and odds be for a Tiago vs Colonel John head to head matchup?

This is the early nominee for grass race of the year. I doubt we'll see a better field of grass horses in any of the major races this year. Well, except for the BC Classic.

Tiago will get a little more pace then he did in his last race. I'd take him over Colonel John in a head-to-head bet.

The thing with Tiago is, he kinda stinks with or without a pace.

You probably are rooting for him because, I'm guessing, you used him in that TVG game.

The thing with Tiago is that he's a dirt horse that's never allowed to run on the dirt.

I got 4 of the horses slated to run in the Big Cap in my fantasy stable:

Tiago
Colonel John
Cowboy Cal
Court Vision

I probably should have spread out my stable better so that all my horses are not running in the same race.

The one horse I do not have in my stable who I think has a good shot to win is Einstein (Leparoux has been on fire lately).

And he is actually pretty accomplished on RD (real dirt); second to Curlin in a G1 at Churchill, winner of a G2 at Churchill, and a closing third in the recent Donn H, on a day when both big 9f races were fought out by the horses that were 1-2 all the way around the track.

Back in the good ol' days (geezer talk coming) lots of good horses ran on both turf and dirt and were top class on both. Kelso, Ack Ack, Cougar II, Exceller, John Henry, Perrault (won the Hollywood Gold Cup and Arlington Million in the same year), Greinton, ..., Einstein's dad Spend a Buck handled dirt just fine, you know.

Really? If you only saw the list of horses in this race, minus Tiago, you might think this is a G1 turf race...
