![]() bad enough they retire colts at 2 (street hero) and 3-i think it's ridiculous that fillies are bred at two.

![]() It is young but oddly enough, in the world of "warmblood" showhorses alot of fillies are bred at 2. Their legs mature later than thoroughbreds and so they often breed the best and best bred fillies before they even break them to saddle. Otherwise the year between 2 and 3 is "wasted" from what I hear. This is more prevalent in Europe than the US.
I'll take a King's Bishop future bet on this baby, not the KY Derby!

![]() Ever since I read that book on PG Johnson and Volponi, I've had a soft spot for that horse and Jonespartyofwon is his half sis. Did she hurt herself so early on that they bred her? I assume she got sent to Half Ours in Feb unless she's early (correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that more likely with a maiden mare?)
What effect does it have on the body of a filly that young vs an older mare? |

![]() The whole idea of breeding an obviously unsound 2yo by Smarty Jones to Half Ours, of all the stallions in the world, just seems utterly absurd to me.
I'm guessing this filly will turn out to be just like her mom. |
