This reminds me of a play that I could swear I watched when I was younger. It might just be me, but I can swear it happened. Maybe some of the Buffalo Bills fans can help me out here. I've tried to search long and hard for video/clippings from a hit that Jim Kelly put on a guy that intercepted one of his passes. The DB was running down the sideline with the ball when Jim Kelly went to tackle him by the legs. From what my mind can remember, JK broke the defenders leg(I could be dreaming here). It was one of those plays that was turned stomachs, which could explain why it was never replayed. I'm sure it also ended the DB's career.

My dad, when I brought this up to him to see if he remembered, thinks that I must've been smoking the grunjie, but I was waaay to young to even be involved with that. Any help to prove/disprove my memory would be greatly appreciated. I know there are Bills fans out there that remember it more vividly. (Im not even sure if it happened or if it was just a dream)

It happenned...in 1992. The guy who's leg was broken was Terry Ray...played for the Falcons. The Bills won 41-14 & went on to get demolished by the Cowboys in the Superbowl 52-17 & turned the ball over 9 times. He actually kept playing (after healing from the broken leg) eight years, including a Superbowl trip with New England in '96. Went on to be a scout for the Skins...who incidentally, also owned Buffalo in a Superbowl 37-24. I'd like to thank Google, Wikipedia, my own memory, and lastly Steve for running this site.

9-1, you are the man. Thanks for giving a hoot and putting me onto it. Nice memory too. If it happened in '92, that would mean that I was either 9 or 10, depending on the time of the year it happened. Now, if I can only find video for it, but that's highly doubtful.

After I created this thread, I called a grade school friend of mine who would give The Schwab a serious run for his money. He said that if he had to take a gander, he would say Napoleon McCallum. I wondered how in the hell he came up with that name, but as I said, this dude is SERIOUS. He may or may not be right, but it was impressive nonetheless that he vaguely remembers JK breaking a leg and had a name to throw out there, as he's a year younger than me.

napolean mccallum was a running back, i doubt he intercepted many passes.

from the naval academy and that injury ended his career with the raiders and (i think) in the navy.

He did play for Navy (1986). Broke his leg (Badly) against 49ers I think in 1994. I know I'll never forget it.

In the Raiders' opening game of the 1994 season, a September 5 date on Monday Night Football at the San Francisco 49ers, McCallum's career would be ended prematurely when 49ers linebacker Ken Norton Jr. twisted him to the ground. McCallum's cleat stuck in the ground, forcing his knee into a horrible dislocation. Norton lay pinned underneath a motionless McCallum for a couple of minutes while trainers attended to McCallum.

McCallum suffered a complete hyperextension of his left knee, almost to a right angle. He suffered a ruptured artery in his left knee, and tore three ligaments, tore the calf and hamstring from the bone, and suffered nerve damage in the knee.
