Been by it a bunch of times, but never been in. I heard it's kinda dumpy, which is what I'd expect from Harness racing.

I was there in the mid 90's.....A 20 dollar WP bet drastically moves the board. It's a first class schit hole.

I'm there eight or ten times every summer -- more to buy the DRF, or play simulcast than to watch the live product.

It's probably a "C-level" harness track. The quality of racing isn't especially good -- and, as noted above, a few dollars into the pool can really shake-up the odds.

They closed the seating portion of the grandstand a few years back, so now only the first floor is open [as well as the clubhouse, which does have a second-floor dining room].

Also, they took down the lighting a couple of years ago, so now all the racing is in the afternoon.

All that said, I still go there. It's perfectly fine for watching and wagering on simulcast action. And, what the heck, if you're they're while they're racing, it's still fun to watch and bet on live racing.

It's also only about ten minutes from the beach -- and that's a bonus.

How does the harness racing compare between Scarborough and the Toga racino? I was there one night during opening week and it didn't take much at all to move the tote either.

Not sure, but I think Scarborough competes more with Rockingham (in NH) and Plainridge (in MA), especially come summer time, when those tracks open up.

Yeah -- I guess depending on what you call "halfway decent", but I would consider it to be so...

In the clubhouse there's a bar area with plenty of TVs and some tables to sit at -- that's a nice area. And the grandstand also has a couple of areas with tables and TVs.

Not plush by any means -- but OK for playing simulcast races.

As far as comparing it to Tioga -- I've never been to Tioga. If I was to guess however -- from reading about Tioga and seeing PPs in the Saratoga harness program -- I'd put Scarborough perhaps a rung down the ladder.

Back in the 60's, they had the runners their. Purse money was 200-500. Good old fair runners, who had more drugs in them than you could shake a stick at.

went there in the 80's, between grateful dead shows, they were at oxford speedway at the time. being from saratoga it looked like the horses break all the time, but theres never a foul called. its a dump, killed my buzz.
